Daysha, he could have picked up an overshield earlier. They do last for a while...if you aren't hit, they can last for up to about a minute or so. He could also have possibly blown the overshield from its normal position to right next to your base, so he might have just picked it up when you started firing on him. I'm not quite sure, but those are the best conclusions I can come to, besides you guys both being lousy shots.

Hmm, I may try that.

Any other exploits/strategies you'd care to divulge? What about warthog catapulting in sidewinder? Never got the hang of that...

Nevermind, I found a better way anyway. You use a scorpion as a ramp on one of the upper levels of sidewinder and go up it on a ghost. You can walk around on top of the cliffs all around the map. I don't really use this in multiplayer, but its good to know about in case other people start using it. If you're getting sniped a lot on sidewinder and someone set the game up with all vehicles, be sure to scan the tops of the cliffs with a sniper rifle. :sniper:

Plus, if you get out of the warthog just right up next to an oddly-shaped slanty rock in blood gulch (near the blue base I think) you get trapped inside. No one can see much of you (just a toe or a gun barrel) but you can shoot out at others easily. Again, I think its pretty dumb to do this sort of thing, but its good to know about if someone else starts doing it, just grenade the **** out of the rock. :)

Anyone else have anything to add?

I've heard that in Halo-Xbox the right shin of a multiplayer opponent is a one-hit-melee kill, like it is for the back of the head. You can sometimes use the terrain to your advantage to set up a shin-whack that they won't see coming, most notably on maps like Longest and Chiron. Another reason to buy Halo for PC instead!
I have spoken.

Also on halo-Xbox(maybe computer too, never tried) you can get infinite Ammo for almost any weapon. But really only usefull for the rocket and extreme circumstances.
It's a glitch and a lil' tricky, but once you get it down, yer solid.
I'd wager Capt.Burton already knows about it tho. Maybe everyone actually. I don't know.

I haven't heard of either of those, I'm especially interested in the infinite ammo glitch though. Remember how its done?

It's actually kinda simple.

Also, although it is a trick to get infinite ammo, more likely it will just extend the life of your weapon.

You have to have a weapon that can be reloaded. So it can't be plasma, it has to have less than a full clip or barrel or what ever. Just make it so you can reload the thing.

Stand next to a weapon on the ground, not so close that the "Press 'X' to pick up ****" message appears though.

Reload your equipped weapon, and IMMEDIATELY after you press the 'X' button to reload, step forward and press the 'X' button again to pick the weapon up off the ground.

If you watch the weapon you were reloading as it flies to the ground, you will be able to see it reload, or cock itself or whatever it does when it reloads. If you hear the weapon reload then the trick was successfull.

Step forward again and pick up your original weapon off the ground.

The current clip will be full, but it will not have exausted any of the ammunition in the clips you haven't used yet.

As for the shin thing...i have no idea, i haven't played halo in a long time. this one must be new.

Pistol Tidbits

Post by Death »

Here are my tips for Halo that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

1. If your going for head shots with the pistol (and you should starting with your third shot) DO NOT fire as fast as the pistol can, you lose accuracy with it, so its just like holding down the trigger with it. Even at close range it makes a large difference.

2. A pistol shot knocks as much off your shields no matter where you're hit, so aim for the chest/body area first and then take aim at their head, the third shot is the important one to aim for.

3. You can knock off a second or two on reload times as each weapon has a point where the reload animation has not ended but you can shoot, switch weapons, punch, or throw a grenade, with out having to start the reload all over again. Not a game maker, but it is handy to know.

4. In any multiplayer situation try to be random as possible. The easiest way to get killed is to always do what you've always done. Sharp players will realize this and take full advantage of you by bending you over and exploring your anal region when you take the same route to the flag, sniper rifle or whatever.

I'm not the best Halo player in the world, but I am a very good one (Ask Jevin) and I have a dislike of power-ups. mainly the overshield because there is no way to tell if a person has one. But if you are playing to win then powerups are a must so you can at least deny them to another player while giving yourself an extra edge.

Wow, sorry for the length and if any of this is a repeat. Now go young ones, go and kill like crazy!!

One thing to add to Death's post about pistols. The speed at which you fire isn't the deciding factor for accuracy. If you hold down the trigger you will be inaccurate. You'll also be inaccurate if you pull the trigger and don't let the trigger button reset completly before the next shot. BUT if you pull the trigger, release completely, then pull the trigger again and repeat the process you can fire the pistol with maximum accuracy as fast as you can pull the trigger.

Did that make sense? It was kinda' hard to explain.

Anyway, try it out firing at a wall and take note of the grouping, I think you'll be pleasently suprised.
