EA Sports: We Buy the Games

Well I've been on break for a while and haven't kept up on the news since all my parents have at home now is dialup and I just didn't want to deal with it much.
This new EA stuff is really pissing me off. I was wondering if they'd try and buy another sport. And I really do have to feel sorry for Visual Concepts. They do everything, and I mean everything, right. Yearly sports games shouldn't be full price in the first place with marginal improvements. But they did improve a great deal. And I totally agree with Break that the 2K series of games are not just fun sports games, but they're just fun games if you don't even like sports that much, like myself. They make a great game, offer it cheaper, and they get just screwed. EA is like the little kid who can't handle any form of competition. They're the kid that takes their ball home and leaves so no one else can play.
And now this Ubisoft stuff, that really worries me a bit. Think of all the greatness Ubisoft has put out lately over the past couple years. There's Beyond Good and Evil, XIII, Prince of Persia games, Splinter Cell, Rayman, Rainbow Six games although I dont play them 'cause I suck, and I know there's more I can't think of. All these could be potentially ruined. Ubisoft is definitely one of the great third parties out there now.
I have playhed GE Rogue Agent, and it's not the worst game of the year, but the controls are fucked up and it just doesn't feel right at all, and the levels are definitely pretty bland. There are a couple things I actualy kind of like but it's not near enough to own the game. The whole evil thing doesn't mean anything because you just shoot guys like you would in any other game. I want to be a badass and make people fear me like in Fable. There you really felt being a badass ment something.
There is one EA game that I do ahve to own though because I haven't had the money to pick it up yet, and it's Burnout 3. I can't deny the true greatness of this game. And I will pick it up some time soon, but like I'd planned to begin with, Half.com is my friend, not new. .
To end all this for now, Fuck you EA.

Prince of Persia or 007: Nightfire?
Splinter Cell or 007: e or Nothing?
Rainbow Six or EA's tactical console shooters?
ESPN or Madden?
these are the questions EA posed to themselves at a meeting. Knowing they were severely outgunned in 3 out of the 4 areas mentioned, some cunt in a high position of power decided to buy out all the competition.
Meanwhile, the intern(a wrestling fan who's favorite wrestler is Sting) knows how the story ends up. Vince McMahon bought out WCW 4 years ago and ever since then, fans have drifted away from watching because the product is stale. It's stale due to lack of competition. But while the boss is busy providing self-fellatio, this intern just sits there knowing she needs a positive recommendation for whatever 9 to 5 she wants to suffer through for the next 4 years.

Good point JayT, competition makes the world go round. Now that video games are such a big business you've got several monopolistically minded companies vieing for the industry's majority share: Microsoft, Sony, and now EA have all made moves in buying out the industry. We'll see where it goes.

I avoid all EA related news of upcoming games, previews, commercials, anything EA, I avoid it now. I'm not sure if there's enough people to make a difference seeing as there have always been more EA fans than ESPN fans gamewise.
It still sucks the big one tho. So much for playing football games. EA's games just dont' measure up to the ESPN games.
