Making a computer (finally).

OK, looks like I'm going with the Gigabyte, despite the inexplicable legacy ports. People seem to be having a lot of complaints about the newest DFI nf590 BIOS.

So I bought STALKER in anticipation of having a working PC, but no such luck. So I took it over to my brother's to install it on his slightly less awesome rig.

It's pretty nice. Like Oblivion with guns. ...And a lot more depressing.

Funny thing is, there are people walking around in the game speaking russian, and no subtitles are provided. My brother speaks fluent russian though, so he's getting a kick out of the jokes they're telling each other and such. I think he might buy a copy for himself.

Yeah, I noticed that came out when I was shopping last night, after about two years of delays. I kinda gave up on it after awhile, but I might give it a go once I get a new video card.

I forgot to say, I got the Gigabyte board because of a feature I really like. Dual BIOS chips.

The second ASUS board I got crashed when I tried to update the BIOS. That completely killed the board.

With this Gigabyte board even if that happened there's a redundant BIOS backup on the second chip! No doorstop!

I won't buy it for a while, I'm just gonna try it out and then reformat and install XP again.

It's nice, but nothing I can't live without.

I'll let you know if my thoughts change.

Ok, I just reformatted the hard drive and installed good ol' XP SP2.

My CPU is running TEN DEGREES COOLER now.

GOD Vista is a resource hog.

I haven't used Winamp for a long, long time. Roughly somewhere around the time everyone in the house (except for me) made a joint effort to delete it...

ah the days of sharing a computer... btw im still waiting for my rig to arrive. now ill be able to play bf 2142 in highest settings .
