I've yet to find interest in joining a guild. There are lots of people in guilds where I play, but I'm enjoying exploring places myself. The continents are HUUUUUUUGE. Seriously, you'll do a shit ton of walking until you get a mount.

Some guilds are good when you are leveling. The random bs that goes on in them can be amusing to watch and partake in. I was pretty much the same way when i was lvling the first time through. I think I made it to 53 with my first 60 an orc hunter before I even joined a guild. The main thing they are really good for are raids and instances. Its really nice to have a team of people you know don't suck to pull from for a run.
Btw scored this the other night.

Guilds are really useful. I highly recommend them at all levels. They make EVERYTHING easier, and you don't HAVE to partake in helping your guild if you don't want to. Most guilds are pretty lenient on participation. As long as you don't refuse to help EVERY time, you don't beg for help ALL the time, and you remain active they don't usually care. The bigger the guild, the more lenient this usually gets since I've found that the only thing the bigger guilds pay much attention to is your activity, since that's the only thing they can keep a log on as long as you kind of remain in the background until endgame.
By that time, you should have a friend base in your guild. Then you and your friends can start drawing more attention to yourselves and form groups with other people who very clearly manipulated this same little plan to get to endgame so you can start the lower endgame instances that they've been working on for months to get through while the higher guild members are doing the insanely hard instances and not offering help because they're so busy spending insane amounts of time on.
I'd personally try to get the lower endgame members through the easier instances while going back to my runs on the hard instances trying to get more gear for that. If I did that, it'd make the less equipped and experienced members get a slightly worse amount of experience with fighting in groups at the expense of getting them better equipment quicker...then I'd work on getting them the group experience with the rest of us. I dunno why I got into all that.

I've kinda put WoW aside to get back to playing maplestory (Ninja Hermits FTW)... I will probably return to it eventually.
