Depends. I Am Legend, I thought Will Smith did a very good job as Neville, with some exceptions, such as the tediously long Shrek sequence.

As for Charlie Wilson's War, I agree, Tom Hanks was playing Tom Hanks with a goofy accent, but Phillip Seymour Hoffman, another name actor, was definitely channeling Gust... so, yeah, depends.
