I want a top o' line card cause I am building a new system for myself, and selling this old one back to the parentals. Not that my parents need a system like I have now. I think it is more of a power thing so I can flaunt my toys off to everyone at school. I also am into the digital media realm of combat, but I don't rip stuff off TV, cause I am lazy to by an S-Video to AV converter. Maybe some day I will.

Well, esentailly, you are using the VCR as the tuner... You can still watch live TV on your PC.. just to change channel you will have to use the channel select on your VCR. You can also stil record with the VCR and with your PC.
Ofcourse, if you dont have a VCR that will support this, or a Video Card with s-video or composite in, then I suppose I guess you'll need one of those nVidia tuners, or an ATI all-in-wonder, or a PCI tuner, or a USB tuner. Each are progressivly cheaper, but each has progressivly less features.
Juan, if you still have the box from your MSI Geforce3, you'll find a handly little S-Video to AV converter hidden in the bottom

OK, well here is the
lonkage.
The new card from ATI is the Radeon 9900, slated for a Feb 2003 release to duke it out with the Geforce FX.. seeing how the Radeon 9700 is already beating the FX, I doubt the 9900 will have much of a problem.
ATI have been pretty tight lipped about this thang so far... maybe the release date has fallen back a little.
Here is some discussion about the card from another forum.

Except when you are trying to decide which one you want to buy

Yeah, it is a dilemma. But, no matter which one you get, it will be better than the monopolized market. Competition means more good shit =)
Also, 3dlabs is supposedly working on a chip called the Ninja. And I think there is still one more company working on a card.

Yeah,
Matrox released a sorry excuse for a video card a few months ago.. It supported 3 monitor outs for one card, the big selling point was surround gaming.. It was called the Parhelia (
Lonkage).. Performance was terrible for gaming (even with one monitor, yet alone 3), but if you want a workstation with 3 monitors, it cant be beat.
Also,
PowerVR make Video Chips, but I dont know what they are working on right now.
To my knowledge they havent released anything since the Kyro architecture, which is what is in the Dreamcast. My sister has a KyroII card, which is essentially a heavily overclocked KyroI, and its performance is equivalent to a mid-range Geforce2.
Edit: PowerVR apparenlty have the next generation of chips in the "Advanced Development" stage, according to
this. What ever that means. Also, according to the same link, the Dreamcast chip is actaully one generation behind the Kyro chip, my bad...

Creative Labs was supposed to be working on a new video card, but I havent heard anything about it for a few months now...

I might be wrong.. but I think Creative Labs bought 3D labs.. And the Chip Creative is making is being made for them by 3D labs.. Like I said I could be worng, I remember reading this somewhere and will try to dig up linkage later. Also, I believe that 3D labs already released a chip mid-2002... Its sales matched the chips performance -poor. Actually, I could be wrong with this also, maybe I am thinking of the Parhelia...
I'll get some Lunkage and post the real dealy later..
my cards are doin just fine

I believe the Xbox's NV20 video chips beats out the Flipper in theoretical and Practical benchmarks, so dont go bashing the Xbox too quickly you ATI fanboy.
