i agree that a console design isn't the most important thing. the control design does mean something though. anyway, i think its a little harsh to say that this is a lack of innovation, because nintendo wasn't really trying to push the envelope with this. it is just to cash in. if you want innovention get the ds, its not even a year old what do we need a super new innovated gba for? this is just to get more sales. its what a company does, can you really blame them? it was the same thing with the slim ps2. which was less innovative if you ask me because it lost functions, such as not being able to have the harddrive. if anything this puts more money to revolution and doesn't take it way. the better gameboy sales do the more risks with other products nintendo can take. its the same way microsoft worked. they lost money on the console but it didn't matter becasue their other products more than made up for the loss.
this is just my opinion though.

Actually, Microsoft's other products have not made up financially as Nintendo is the only company to make profit. Sony and Microsoft have significantly gained marketshare though.
I think Richie's main frustration is that the GBA micro was, as far as new systems go, Nintendo's focal point while Sony and Microsoft both made next-gen their priority. It's not good to get a late start in the race... and Nintendo is really going to pay for their lack of vision. Now, take your father's place at my side. Sorry.. been watching too much StarWars lately.

when i said microsoft's other products i ment windows. i know their game department doesn't make profit, but microsoft as a whole isn't in the red.
i wouldn't say nitendo's focal point is the gba micro. it might have been at e3 but that doesn't mean nintendo is working on the next gen. when has nintendo ever not been tight liped on the future? this is what they do. sure it sucks but thats the way it works. is it that nintendo doesn't have vision or is it that they keep us in the dark?
don't sell out nintendo yet lando.

So how have the GBA Micros been selling anyway? If its high then that either means: 1) Its actually good. OR 2) People are going down the road of dumbass
if it's low then that either means: 1) It sucks. OR 2) People are intelligent enough to stick with their two previous GBAs

Yeah, making money is what a company is about, in the end. But like you asked, what do we need a super new innovated GBA for? We don't, I don't think we even need a new GBA.
Like Break said, most of my frustration stems from Nintendo getting a late start. I really wana see Revolution kick ass in the next generation, but I just don't see it happening right now.
But hey, I'm probably just a faithless bastard.

I'm not saying Revolution is bad, or selling them out. I am only saying that being the only company of three competitors to not show your system is bad. I know that have some machine cooked up somewhere, but all the press at E3 I talked to were very irritated at Nintendo's no show. And by focal point, I just meant at E3. I also doubt it will be their focal point in actual business.. and if they are... yikes.
Basically, I am just wondering when they're going to show their console since its coming in Spring.

I would argue that DS was the focal point for Nintendo. I think there were more titles shown off and more floor spaced used for the DS at Nintendo's booth. In Nintendo's press confrence, they didn't dwell on the Gameboy Mirco for very long. Most of the time was again spent on DS, especially showing off titles like Nintendogs and Electroplankton. They had Tina Wood and Miyamoto come out and play Nintendogs. They had this DJ guy use Electroplankton.

I meant systems that were announced new at this year's E3. Nintendo's been saying the last few years that they'd learned from the GameCube and that they wouldn't have a late start and all this stuff... They already have a late start unveiling. I just, desperately, want to see them learn from mistakes.

Much frustration, I sense in you.

Let go of your frustration. Release your anger.

Well lets just hope their inability to learn from the past doesn't do them a lot of damage...try to look at the bright side...if all of the systems come out the same year its gonna be kind of hard to choose which one unless you somehow get enough moeny to get them all. BUT if they come out much later than the previous then it will be easier to get them one by one.

Forget your pills today, Typheus?
I agree, the DS was obviously Nindendo's focus this year, along with Gamecube, which will most likely be Nindendo's only gaming console for OVER a year.
