I've been kinda underwhelmed with the 360 games I've seen. Need For Speed Most Wanted looked exactly like Need For Speed Underground, with the added bullet time feature. Call of Duty 2 looked better than the original, but not by leaps and bounds, and not like it had three processors behind it.

But then again, no PS3 games were playable, and we still know almost nothing about Revolution, so I still think it's too early to start calling shots.

Let's not forget what Sony promised with the ps2 and how that all turned out.

Don't be so quick to judge...when I see a REAL game running on PS3, not a tech demo, then I'll make a judgement on where their power really is.

edit: Very interesting tech comparison between xbox 360 and ps3 on http://www.majornelson.com right now...check it out.

Don't forget Jack's not here, and is going off what the rest of you have.

I went to Sony's booth (different presentation than the press conference) and saw the Ps3 (actual gameplay, tech demos, wasn't too much fmv in that demo except for the new technology of incorporating HD video with actual gameplay. Really worked well.) I have been to both presentations, seen the Ps3 demo, and played 360. My impression, as well as Mark's, is that the Ps3 (at this point) kicks Xbox 360's ass. Keep in mind everyone on this forum thinks I am biased against Sony. All four of us are severely underwhelmed by the 360, while Mark and I were really blown away with the Ps3. Numbers are great and all, but the Ps3 looks better while the Xbox 360 looks like they turned the resolution up a little bit on Xbox 1.

Believe it or not, I'm actually a little unimpressed with this year's E3. With the new generation coming, I thought there'd be more stuff to wow us.

The XBox 360 seems pretty cool, and I like the wireless features, as well as the backwards compatibility they mentioned at the press conference. However none of the games scream must buy. There are quite a few that sound promising gameplay wise, but graphically nothing says simply amazing. Still I"m hopeful for a few titles because some of the concepts sound quite good, like the game where you lead a zombie army, can't remember the name.... It doesn't seem to have the killer app, and while I'll probably want the system near release because how much I actually liked the first XBox, I'm not near as excited as I was just before the potential of E3.

As for Sony, the systems looks rather cool. The controller looks very usable, although the handles seem a bit long. Might be pretty comfortable though. I haven't looked as as much footage for the PS3, but there is some nice looking stuff, too bad it's CG or not actual gameplay. That's kind of annoying. I'll definitely wait to see an actual game to make better judgements.

I really had mixed feelings about Nintendo too. First Zelda, this game looks simply amazing, both from a graphical and gameplay standpoint. All next gen included, this is the one thing I must have this holiday season. However the rest didn't impress me much. Aside from pumping out more Mario themed games, there's not much to look foreword to on GC except Killer 7 and a few third party games that are on other systems. And really, enough with the Mario Parties, it's getting almost as bad as some EA games that are released every year. Nintendo's revolution teasers was mostly disappointing. The design of the system looked quite promising, and the fact we can download pretty much any game of any past Nintendo system made me quite excited, but beyond that I wasn't impressed. "You will be wowed?" OK, but then maybe give us a taste to be wowed about, even if it is just CG or non-gameplay like Sony did. If the controller is as revolutionary as they say, that might be ok to keep secret for a little longer, but give us something. I don't think Nintendo can afford to be totally quiet. And the DS games: Nintendogs, Mario Kart, and Metroid Prime Hunters all look good, but I'm again not seeing a lot more support for the system, at least that excites me, so who knows when I'll get the system. And while the new GBA looks quite cool, do we really need 20 colors, 5 versions, 3 something else of the same system? I may change my mind when I actaully see the system, but I'm not sold. I love my clamshell SP.

Maybe part of my disappointment is that I wasn't there to see some of this stuff first hand. Maybe it's because I was on a trip across the country the last half of the week for a job interview and only periodically checked the net for updates and I've just missed some cool things. Maybe I'll change my mind after seeing a little more, but really, I'm most excited about the current generation stuff: Burnout Revenge, Zelda, Killer 7, Advent Rising, POP 3 (if it eases up on the forced dark wannabe cool theme of Warrior Within), and more I can't think of at the moment.

Final thoughts, PS3 does look powerful, but if Microsoft keeps improving on how they implament the new system and Live despite a little less power, they could do quite well. Nintendo's stuff is interesting, but I'm still skeptical. One thing I will say though is that Nintendo's press conference was the most fun to watch even if there wasn't a whole lot to show. I'll wait for a while to see what impresses me from the next generation. Should still be a pretty good year for gaming. Zelda Can't come soon enough.

FFVII was real time rendered and not CG. They showed a lot of real time gameplay stuff behind closed doors, but we weren't allowed to film it. (Regarding Sony)

I'd really like to know more about Revolution, and I really hope they improve 360 before launch.

Advent Children is a MOVIE. A pre-rendered movie produced on farms of computers. If you can give me proof that it is being rendered in real-time, then please, by all means, give it.

And which games did they actually play behind closed doors? Fight Night? UT 2007? Both of those are in the works for X360 as well, and don't tell me you're basing your impressions of the 360 just on Top Spin 2. That's idiotic.

Yes, I agree though, this year's E3 was really underwhelming.

I NEVER mentioned Advent Children, EVER. I was talking about the real time rendered version of the opening movie from FFVII. The Tech Demo from the press conference, in other words. The one that has nothing to do with Advent Children.

I'll relay to Mark that you think he's an idiot. But, yeah, I played more than that.

Don't get me wrong though, I DO agree with you, Break.

Gears of war does make me think that both systems are worthy of some praise though.

No, I hear you. I meant the FFVII technical demo, my bad. Advent Children really has little to do with the Ps3. I don't even remember typing that.

360 definately isn't worthless. I just think, as of right now, the Ps3 is way better. There's still a lot of time for launch, and this could change. Obviously both companies wanted to show off the technical prowess of the system, so I assumed neither held back. In that case Ps3 is the clear winner. It's not just pure specs even though both processers are based on the G5 (moreso for the Xbox.) Efficiency also matters.

So what about the real games you weren't allowed to tape? Can you talk about them at all or are you all NDAed?

I'll talk about what I can on the show.
