Rest assured, if I were not in class right now, not as sleepy as I am, and not just got a Saturday detention for oversleeping, there would be many words of fury and rage occupying this space. The Siege wrote:Great, now I can play a boring, overrated game with shittier graphics with shittier controls!!! And mic support!!

I thought it was cool until I realized that most of my time playing the game was spent trying to get to the action instead of actually killing people, and the coolness of having vehicles and planes was destroyed by the horrible controls. Infantry combat sucks hard, the accuracy on every gun except the sniper rifle is shit, I would seriously shoot at a guy with my cursor dead on him and watch bullets spray everywhere around him.
Counter-Strike on X-Box has the considerable advantage of being hack-free, but any PC FPS ported to console is automatically gay. In fact, FPS on any console is pretty gay. I used to like console FPS, but once you've experience the finely tuned and responsive mouse controls on a good PC FPS like CS or Unreal Tournament, you can never go back.
Sorry but I figured I'd better back up my shit talking.

Also, I am extremely critical of games, games are never as bad as I say they are. I make it a point to concentrate on the flaws/weaknesses, and strengths, of any game I play, since I write games myself. It's like how a writer would read a novel with a more critical eye than someone who is reading purely for the enjoyment. This really makes me not like a lot of games that are sometimes fun, but do in fact suck.

First off, I agree wholeheartedly about the suckiness of console FPS's. They do alright in some cases, but really can't compare to their PC counterparts because the controls are so inadequate.
It's too bad you found so many things wrong with BF. I don't know when it was that you were playing BF, but some of the accuracy complaints you have might have to do with the early versions of the game, which had downright awful netcode and hit detection. But, regardless of when you played it, the guns in BF can't be wielded like you would in CS or UT. I could go on forever about the vagaries of BAR or Thompson use, but that would bore you. Don't know what your problem is with the vehicle controls, though. I mean, how much easier does it get to drive a tank than using WASD and a mouse? The same goes for Jeeps and other small vehicles. You might have tried flying with a keyboard/mouse setup, which is futile without some kind of joystick.
Sorry for the rant, but with so much time I've put into BF, I can't help but take an attack on it somewhat personally.

For the most part, the only games I have ever played have been FPS. The only thing is... out of all of them, BF was and IS the best. Hands down. The controls are easy to pick up, the game is simple, yet complex, rudimentary, yet brilliant. It was the first FPS that incorporated vehicles in the sense that you could pretty much control every aspect of them. You have a complete world with BF, not just a pre-designated path like most FPS. The graphics are great, the gameplay is phenomenal. I'm addicted to Galaxies right now but who knows how long that will last... afterwards I'm sure I'll go back to the old mainstay, my love, Battlefield.
