I was at the National Association for Campus Activities conference this weekend till today. It was an awesome convention about event programming on college campuses. Not only do you get to go to education sessions to teach you how to be a better college programmer, but you get to see the acts and book them there. Anything from clowns and comedians to musicians and rock bands preform at this place. It's all so new and exciting to me, I still need some time to process it all.
But I did get to see some people of note:
Mr. Belding from Saved By the Bell
Uncle Joey from Full House
Max Weinberg - Legendary Drummer for Springsteen, and Conan O'Brian
Nancy Cartwright - voice of Bart Simpson
Though these were all cool in their own right, I got to meet David Kushner. Writer for Rolling Stone, Wired, and a plethora of other magazines as well as author of "Masters of Doom" A story about the creation of Doom and Quake, as well as how Carmac and Romero got to where they are.
Kushner and I chatted for about 10 - 15 minutes where I heard interesting stories about him trying to get an interview with Carmac, and about his intense time playing the games for research to his books. He does the lecture circuit with this lawyer douche and put on a really good lecture. If your campus has a decent amount of lecture programming funds, get involved and look to getting him.
I am so exhausted though, just wanted to tell y'all that.
