What was the matter with the 64? I always liked it better than the PS1. Could you elaborate for us?

I don't mean it as a system like it was a failure or something, I loved my N64. I mean like the design decisions, such as the proprietary format, the cartridge. It limited what the games could do so much. They had much less space than a CD, plus games were easily $60 when they came out because it cost more for them to manufacture. People played along with Nintendo back then because they had no other choice. Now 3rd parties know better, and they know they can go with a different company if they want to.

and with all the limits they still brought out the 3 games that still dictate the basic blueprint of doing certain genres the right way:

WWF No Mercy
Super Mario 64
and Ocarina of Time

I liked the N64. It had some of my favorite games of all time, like the ones mentioned above by JayT. It may have had its technical limitations, but I believe that it is more about the games than the actual hardware. It does somewhat limit your abilities, but people used it for all its potential. Zelda64 and Mario64 alone make up for any transgression of the console.

Jack, you just don't like Nintendo.

I second that motion, Break. C'mon Jack, if Microsoft had announced a two-screen portable system, you'd be all about it.
In either case, I'm slightly skeptical about how it'll hit the market, but I do think it sounds pretty freaking cool. And Jack, since when does the average gamer have trouble concentrating on one screen? I do believe that is a diss at the average gamer. Don't go all Nokia on us, here.

Not really, I'd still be really skeptical...

So does that mean that two screens doubles the pleasure?

I believe the screens have to be side by side for that image. The DS screens are top/bottom.

All I have to say that if this ends up being true (which it probably is not), I will crap my pants in sheer joy.

Wouldn't the screens have to be at just the right angle too to get that to work? And if this was the case, why the hell didn't Nintendo just say that? They're not winning many points by not announcing it. I remain very skeptical, and this probably isn't the case.
