Allright, so I have a bit of a problem and I'm hoping one of you gents can help me out. I installed a new fan last night into my Dell desktop. The old one was making these horrendous noises. The noise is now gone (I ran the fan for 4 hours last night with no problems), and the fan runs fine. You can feel the air coming out and so on.
However, whenever I boot up my computer it tells me "Warning! Previous Fan Failure. Press f1 to continue, or f2 to setup." I thought the problem had been fixed last night when we first got the error message, and the computer did indeed run just fine with no burnage or flaming motherboards. But I got the message again this morning. Any suggestions?

Many built in fans come with a monitor so you can read RPM's. Possibly your Dell fan had just that, while your new one doesn't include the monitor. Since the bios is configured to read this information, and it isn't reading any, it thinks the fan is not moving, or failed.

Puppets, holding the scissors of freedom, are still powerless to cut the strings of opression. That is to say, once a puppet, always a puppet.
