But if they didn't actually ever even turn it on, how can we prove that it really exists? For all we know, it could just be a box. Until it works, that's all it is...

I will remain skeptical.

Whoopedefuckingdoo. Guess what, I've already GOT a machine that does BOTH of those. It's called a home-made Athlon XP rig and a DSL modem. Cool logo, but I'm not impressed yet.

so, why do you need the system? ... I'm confused, why not spend $500 on a PC that you will be more satasfied with? If you want the crappy svideo or composite connection to TV, just get a card with tv out for ... oh ... $5 more. Maybe it is because I have a PC with High Speed Internet, but I see no point to this. It is not proprietary, so it will be outdated as soon as new pc hardware hits the market. Sounds to me like a Mac, only for the TV.

"The ApeXtreme runs games like 'Madden' very well," said Richard Brown, associate vice president of marketing for VIA. "We wouldn't recommend it for next generation games like 'Half-Life 2' and 'Doom 3.' ... I don't really think that's the market we're after."
so ... the point of these are ... eh ... I think madden can run very well on a discman now days, I mean, seriously
people are dumb

So what is the point of a system that will not handle next generation games?

And it is not the market they are after? Then what market are they after?

I'll tell ya the market they're after: Suckers. They are looking for a genetic back-step in evolution who is awed by the newest toy and sparkly keys, quarters, and whatnot. Someone who will whine to their parents to plop down the $500, and have dumb enough parents to say ok. I think this is probably the market most companies in the world are going for these days. It's the largest growing demographic in America today. That and idiots. I guess they're sort of synonymous.
