yeah, juan, i have to change that type of motherboard the one listed does not have a SATA built in.(forgot, doh)

anyway, are you ppl saying i should add a second Hard Drive? keep in mind i want MAX performance for video games, i am not much of a music or video collector so i dont really need much space, And also I have a external 40GB 7200rpm HD too. it acts as a second HD for this Computer right now.

Well if you don't think you need loads of storage space, dual Raptors would kick ass. One Raptor by itself would prolly be too small, but two would give you 70 gigs of 10,000 rpm joy, just make sure your mobo supports RAID. I'm not a music-or-movies-on-the-computer type either, and I've only used 30 gigs of h.d. space, so good point. If you don't need 200 gigs, don't buy 'em.

yeah i too use about 30GB's too right now, but i may get tons of game on my "soon to be Computer" like FFXI, Half-life with all the mods, Call of Duty, Etc. Half-life with all the mods, right now on this CPU uses about 2GB's of space alone.

And i dont feel like spending $300 on two raptors either. I think one would do fine considering I do have an extra External Harddrive(40GB). I would use that for any extra things that are not necessary.

And yes, Dual Raptor would be cool to have. just dont got the money to get 2 right now, but a good suggestion.

Ya good point, I forgot you mentioned the external h.d. Half-Life, mmm, to be honest, I just bought the Half-Life Platinum pack today, with HL-GOTY, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Team Fortress, and CS. My life is finding itself more complete every day.

It was $39 @ Gamestop. GOTY is Game OF The Year edition. I've never actually owned Half-Life before, though I've played it a little bit, so I figured this was the way to go: immersion. :)

Ya, those 5 disks. Half-Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike. Blue Shift has the "hi-definition pack" too, which makes the original Half-Life look better. All in all, everything a heathen needs to convert him before Half-Life 2.

just a thought on your hard drive space issue : ffxi alone takes over 5gb. Never think a hard drive is too large. I have an 80gb, and I thought I would never fill it up, but I am to about 2/3 full and I keep all the crap I don't use deleted off of it.

GOD DAM that is a big game, but i can see y. but what do you do with it? music movies? I am going to use this computer basicly for Gaming only no music no movies no animation no nothin. just games. some internet surfin' and games that is all and if i were to get movies or music i would put it on my external HD. And i almost always, delete stuff i dont use.

but once i get some more money i will probably add more Ram to make it 1GB and then add a second Raptor, upgrade the sound card, and then anything else.

Ok the BIG question on my mind is

WHICH IS BETTER FOR GAMING- Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP?

I am really having a hard time choosing between them. I have a pentium 4 computer and it is fairly good, as in speed of starting application i have actually never played games on it(it is my moms computer for work). And I am wondering would it be better to have an AMD, but i have never used one and have no real way, through experience, to compare them.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My last two computers have been Athlon's and I haven't had any problems with them in handling games. They are also easily overclocked if you are into that kinda thing. Pentium do have the hyper-threading and 800 MHZ FSB (Which is just a 200 x 4, like the 400 is a 200 x 2 for athlon) I think you'll be safe with either processor. Though Athlon always wins the price war with Intel

i am intrested in overclocking, but have no idea what it is. lol.

And what about the 200 x 4 thing you said i dont quite understand what you mean. do you mean 200FSB x 4? and if so, how is that possible?

(thinks to my self: I am such a computer newb)
