Racing Games

I have yet to purchase a single racing game for my 360 or PS3. I'm having extreme withdrawals from a lack of racing.

Everybody at block buster loves Grid...
I hated the demo for burnout paradise...
A buddy of mine plays Project Gotham Racing 4 all the time
I do not have the patience for GT 5 Prologue...
One of my friend's loves Dirt...

And I think Motor Storm 2 looks good.

Can any one give me some advice?
I love all the burnouts except paradise. I like racing games where you can just pick up and go. I did like need for speed hot pursuit & need for speed carbon too.

So now that you know what I know, like, and dislike…who has any suggestions.

Also just use this thread to showcase great racing games you like.

Well, I used to play this PC racing game called 'Live For Speed' ( yes with a mouse and keyboard ) and eventually became godly at it. There was also this other game called GTR2 on PC where I always kicked Richie's ass in. It's very delicious.

But anyway, here we go.

I played the Grid demo, and couldn't stand it. The physics annoyed the shit out of me; going 10/10ths on the track felt like a roll of the dice. Am I at the limit? Am I going to slide? I never could tell. This is the same problem I had with previous Codemaster racing games, including DIRT.

You hated Paradise? Strange, since 'pick up an go' is what Paradise is best at - no start menu, no load times (in game), just hop in your car and do whatever the fuck you want in a huge city. It's about as sandbox/GTA-ish as racers get.

An obsessive PGR4 player? He and I need to get together and go bowling. Or at least race. But honestly, I think the PGR series is THE best balance of real physics and arcadey fun you'll find. The graphics and environments are amazing, and tons of tracks to race on. Give it a try.

I'm still waiting for the real GT5, since I won't spend money on what is, essencially, a demo. The GT series has always made a point of catering to the non-gearheads, including enough driving aids to let your grandmother do a respectable time at Tsukuba. More details on the dislike?

Not being a PS3 owner, I have to say...MotorStorm 2 looks like an obscene amount of fun. Me wants.

The only other racing game worth a damn is Forza Motorsport 2, which I hear is still pretty popular online. It's in the same vein as GT, but with - in my opinion - much better physics. And sound. And modifications. And tracks. Come to think of it, I really do prefer FM2 to GT. Anyway, that might be worth a go.

Sorry, other than RTS games, I kind of stay away from pc games all together. I'm playing the demo's for GRID right now. I like the feel of the 360 version better than PS3.

I like what IGN, GameSpot, and GI have to say about it.

I've played many of the racers out there,
but I have always gone back to FORZA 2 for the 360.

Car Physics and speed momentum are close to absolute real.
I love the fact that one gets punished for damage. And depending on the extent of damage the car's handling and power characteristics are affected. (of course, this can be turned off)
the sound effects are dead on too.

just an all around FANTASTIC sim-style racer!

And has stayed being my favorite since it came out!

I bought Grid (360)...Great Game

Pro's:
Excellent Graphics
Smooth Controls
Crashes are spectacular
Great Cars (mustangs to bmw's to lamborghini's)

Con's:
Online play needs to be refined
Online Glitches
Not as jampacked as other racers

...OK but I thing the Best Racing game was Last-Gen on the Puple Lunch Box Nintendo called it the GameCube and it's called F-Zero GX. In F-Zero GX You go Fast like over 2000 Khm. It has a Great Muti-Player, the Track are Just Great and it's a load of fun Plus you have 30+ F-Zero Racers.

Burnout Paradise is good once you get your first good cars. Until then, it's almost like an MMORPG where you're the low level guy.

ONLY problem I've had with it is that too many online players want to do challenges instead of race, but the single player races are STILL AWESOME.

Ok, the other problem, which isn't a big deal once you get a fast car, is the fact that there's no retry option, meaning you'd have to backtrack all the way to the race starting point to try again. However, unless you're doing a burning route, you can always just try a different challenge around the finish line of the race and maybe it'll lead you back to the start of you old one
