I'll still be buying a PS3 pretty well solely for MGS4. It doesn't matter though; given the 15 or so times I've gone through Sons of Liberty, I'm sure it'll be well worth every penny.

Wow, this game looks really really interesting. and this blue skies environment is something I've been longing for in recent video games. I don't even have to read up on the game further, I want this! It's a ps3 only game?

Yay, more first person games! Finally, a fresh new perspective that hasn't been used in years.

:thebirdman: It could be a potential landmark for the genre, whether you care for FPSes or not.

I would think that this is a different take on first person games. Am I wrong? :?

I was half-joking, but in all seriousness I'm not fond of the first person genre. The technical limitations of current technology severely limits the ability to immerse in any kind of realistic setting, so I much perfer a stylized third person experience where reaction can be better seen. First person is interesting to me if done well and sparingly, but I'm just not a fan of that for the whole game.

Note, I say this as opinion not fact.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. For you, FPSes have entered the Uncanny Valley; in a way it's more realistic because it is first-person, but there are so many inconsistencies and so many things missing that it ruins the whole experience for you. That's one reason I'm excited about Mirror's Edge; you can actually see your goddamn feet. It's a step in the right direction.

I distinctly remember being able to see feet in Halo 1.

You couldn't see your feet until Halo 2. THAT I very definitely know for a fact.

Eh, point still stands; it's old cheese. I could probably list another dozen first-person games just off the top of my head where it's been done.

It is old, but for some reason, developers haven't been fond of continuing the trend too much. This was actually a bit of a shock in Oblivion when I think back to the days preceding and following its release. I can't name many games that HAVE used the feature other than Halo to be honest. I don't think Call of Duty even used it much, aside from MAYBE in Call of Duty 4...but I haven't gotten to play that one very much so I can't really be 100% positive on that.

I think little things like being able to see your feet can go a long way, when it comes to the immersion experience. I mean, if you look at the part in this video where she's sliding down the escalator rail, It actually feels like you are, not like your gun/hand/knife is hovering above it.

Although, I still think FPS's will be at it's prime when a Virtual Reality/Matrix console comes out.

The thing that can turn me off about this game is that it will either be linear, or it will have a weak storyline as an excuse to have gameplay.
