This actually crossed my mind before. I actually created a concept that I talked about to a friend of mine that I kinda spawned from this idea. My little concept has a lot of differences and similarities. Either way, thinking about fact I created another concept too. I won't bother you people with talking about them since I tend to get in REALLY long rants if I do that. I'd probably have more self-control over it on a forum, but oh well...

This concept would be really cool though, but you have to remember it'd be a bit harder to squeeze on-rail sections into an open-ended galaxy. Well actually it wouldn't even be a galaxy, as most of Star Fox takes place in the same solar system, with the exception of their trip to the Aparoid home world. The different Sectors that are marked by nebulas, while marked by the characteristic of a nebula, are actually merely sections in the solar system where the individual nebula the sector is named after is visible, if you look in the background while you're flying around in these areas.

I think I've got a question on everyone's mind involving the planet Titan.

So what do you think? Would YOU go back for Slippy?

I'd go back, not to get Slippy, but to make him THINK I am for a moment. Then I'd suck all the water off the planet's surface and replace it with boiling lava taken from the sun. THEN I would destroy Slippy's ship and take anything he could use for spare parts to rebuild it with me on my ship just so he can't escape.

And then he'd get to watch me fly away, wondering why I would go through all that trouble just to murder him. The simple answer is, it's funny, and it was worth it. :D

Slippy is such a pain in the ass!

"Hey guys! Watch as I fly within two feet of the giant fucking robot and get the FUCK knocked out of me, forcing you to come to a REALLY jacked up planet to save me!"

Leave Starfox in the sky.

You want ON-Foot adventures? Play Mario and Zelda. Air combat is the niche they need to stick to.

Zelda and Mario aren't sci-fi, nor are they anthromorphic animals. Also, Fox looks badass with his blaster. Starfox should be allowed on the fucking ground. It's shit like this that pisses me off. No one wants to give it a chance and for the love of whatever superior entity any of you people out there may believe in, I can't figure out WHY people were getting pissed that after TWO games (one of which is actually acknowledged on a regular basis while the other almost disappeared from the public eye) they HAVE to keep the game on-rails and NOTHING else AT ALL.

The air combat is nice, but flying around constantly is annoying, especially when you get restricted to on-rails so much. Freedom is good. On-rails cuts off a large majority of the freedom you can have in a game. Being stuck inside of vehicle designed to fly through space the entire game is even worse, as it limits you to virtually nothing at this point. It's nice to play these segments, yes. In fact, they are some of my favorite segments offered by a game, but good GOD I can't stand how close-minded people are when it comes to them.

Gamers are a VERY annoying crowd to please. So many of us are CONSTANTLY begging for new things in our games, and when we get them, we start bitching about them doing something new that we don't like, DESPITE the fact that they were being encouraged BY the ones that are now bitching to do what they were doing.

first things first, you need to calm yourself down. You getting upset like someone's insulting your mother.

new things in 'Fox, Merick, yeah, i'd like to see.

Fox Mc Cloud on foot? no. I have NEVER been the gamer to call for that, so there's no need to use cheap generalizations in your lil' debate there. And Adventures was a joke, a copy and paste job. IF(and a big IF).....IF they decide to put sufficient resources towards building a ground game, sure, let's give it a go. BUT their ground game so far is more Miami Dolphin than Ladanian Tomlinson.

Ground vehicle support, however, I'd love to see continue, and have called for that since the 93 Starfox came out.

Until then, leave them cats in the air.

i'm done with the thread hijack now.....back to the music...

That Song of Ashley is hilarious. I have a student named Ashley, and the song fits her. I guess it's from a Wario game?

Makes you wonder if they put Mega Man in this game, what songs would you have picked for him?

For me, it's all about the MM2 soundtrack and the 3rd Wily theme from MM3.

Anyone here who didn't like the VERY first On-Foot mission (where all you had to do was kill everything in your path and get to a certain point) is a crazy ass.

And, yeah, I like the all-round mode. But, the thing is, it was poorly implimented in Starfox Assault, because all you were ever doing was a stupid scavenger hunt, with very little airtime thrown in. THAT'S what is giving on-foot missions a bad rep. I don't get why people wouldn't like to be able to run around, blow up everything on the ground, jump in a plane, and then clear the damn skies.

Christ, sometimes I think I found out why some companies choose not to try something new :/

You're right. I was. I was going through a multitude of constant shit piling up over that day and the day before so I got bitchy. I'm all right now though. I ate some Girl Scout cookies and calmed down.

you're passionate, i see. I can tell by that initial proposal you mentioned about a more open world Starfox. I only really play the 93 version and N64 Starfoxes, honestly. Have you(or anyone else here) ever seen Starblade? It was an arcade version of Starfox, kinda. You sat in the cockpit, and it actually felt as if you were in a spaceship.
