HDTV for my Consoles

I am going to buy a HDTV after my tour here in Iraq comes to an end. I have a question for all you all.

The one I have been looking at is a Samsung Flat-Panel LCD 1080p 8ms plenty of ports and whatnot.

My question is this, for another 400 I could step up to the next model. Its the same size the only different is the contrast ration is 25000:1 as opposed to 10000:1. Would this make a big difference in regards to gaming. And if so is it worth that kind of money? Also any other factors I should consider before purchasing.

Opinions please.

This is old, but yes 25k:1 is a awesome contrast ratio, and if you can afford it, do it. Blacks and whites will look much more pure.

Are you a videophile? Because $400 is definitely worth that if you are really nitpicky about that sort of thing, like I am. If not the other one will be beautiful as well.
