I'm very interested in Death Note too. I was expecting it to be much simpler that it really is (even though the descriptions I heard didn't make it sound simple...which is why I thought it would be simple. I thought they were trying to make the show sound catastrophically more complex than it was, but I was wrong).
I've both heard of and seen all of those except Higurashi, so there.Muteki wrote:(There are no rules against bumping, even for 7 month old topics, so HA)

The Lucky Star and Haruhi dances are a source of much fun at work for me and another anime fan who works there.
Welcome to the boards!
Really? Wow. I had to force my friend to watch Lucky☆Star, but afterwards he started watching. Cat Soup is something I was pretty sure most people haven't even heard of. So I give you much respect for that.
I recommend Higurashi very highly btw. Although I can't really offer you any info about the show without giving away spoilers.... All I can say is to watch it past the first episode before you decide to watch it or not.
Likewise, if you have any good anime you recommend then please tell me. I am willing to try anything (at least for a couple episodes).

*** May Contain spoilers ***
So I reached episode 25 of death note. I was really let down at first as soon as I hit about episode 16 or 17, when the main focus of the show suddenly dissapeared. The thing that I thought made the show so great was all of the suspense and genious that was there during the first arc of the show from episode 1-16. 'Light Yagami' has the power to send people to their graves with the flick of a pen. He uses this power to judge the world that is rotten with criminals. He gives himself the title "Kira", and declares himself god of the new world. The world starts to notice that criminals are suddenly dying of heart attacks, and the infamous detective "L" deducts that someone is committing all these murders. L is the only person that stands in Kira's way, therefore Kira must eliminate him. From there, it's a game of manhunt, Will "L" find "Kira" and take him down, or will Kira find L first and write his name in the death note? as the show progressed, things got a LOT more intense, and much more interesting. with each episode bringing the story more towards it's conclusion. It does get a little more complicated, with the shinigami (Death God) and all, but it's really good.
... but THEN ... all that goes out the window as soon as you reach about episode 17 or 18, where the entire focus of the show just suddenly dissapears. If you've reached that far, you know what I'm talking about.
BUT, The main focus comes back at around episode 23. Although it's not as suspenseful as the first 16 episodes were, I'll see how it goes.
