I've heard that the turnaround time for Xbox 360 repairs has skyrocketed to as long as six weeks and if you do the math, that could mean that some loyal 360 fans may be console-less when the Halo 3 launches. Talk about bad juju.
Awesome. And yeah, my email from them said 6 weeks. Ok, so you pay $400 or so to have a defective machine that will break on you one day in the middle of gaming and then have to be without it for 6 WEEKS!! Actually 7 weeks if you include the week it takes to get the box to you. Ok, now add in the fact that these are slow because there are SO MANY people sending them in.
I'm glad that the Wii is doing well, and also a bit amused that the Ps3 has been beating the 360 in sales ever since the whole defectiveness +3 year warranty stuff came out.
Companies that make shoddy products piss me off. When they begin to get repercussions it makes me happy.
And then I laugh whenever people say the ps3 isn't worth the price. I haven't heard any news of defective ps3's, and mine hasn't had a single problem at all. This is ridiculous. It just keeps getting worse and worse for the 360.
The price argument is absolutely rediculous given the fact that live is a the reason to own an Xbox and that is 50 a year. You think most gamers will do it for two years to equal the Ps3? Plus the hard drive stuff and the blu-ray drive and all that. I'm not going to lay out all of the reasons the price point is moot since it is all over the internet and those that disagree will do so despite any facts given.
The games argument I can see. You play the system with the games you like.

Racers aren't my cup of tea...except for those that try to integrate something that stretches the boundaries of reality. After all, we all know that driving down roads and drifting around turns is much more fun in real life...
Ahem, moving on, FPSs I do like...problem is they're getting worn down and we're at a point where, instead of trying to improve the stale, way too many of the companies are either trying to ruin the formula, or give us the same stale mechanics. Trying to feed me the same damn dish every fucking day of my life isn't going to make me buy it...
well, any head to head game PS3 and 360 has, i'd rather have the 360 version, because it's simply better. And PS3 has nothing i want....and the games they hyped the system on still haven't arrived, or are no longer exclusives.
I understand the systems screw up, but let's not get naive about it all, PS3 has been a huge let down in terms of online capabilities and mainly franchise games. That Killzone movie is about as old as the Chamber of Secrets, where's the game?
360 is not just those 2 genres mentioned. Tomb Raider, Double Agent, Gears of War FPS? Madden, 2k8 games, Tiger Woods: what system would you rather play it on? Exclusives are about dead, so where do these games look and feel better....the evidence speaks for itself.

Not when it comes out of your own wallet .
as far as PSN goes. It's not bad at all. It's not up to the scale of Xbox Live yet, but it's certainly not bad. If I get Free online, Free demos and content, and firmware updates, who can complain. The only things I hope they fix are:
- The crappy web based store. Browsing through it can be a bitch.
- Release a little more demos.
Other than that though, I find it hard to see why people say it's crap. Maybe when they say PSN is crap they mean the interface of the store. If that's what it is, then that's correct. Otherwise it's fine with me.
Third party releases are better on the 360 because of the length of time they have had to develop for the 360. This is obvious if you look at the first EA game to now. Also, several developers have said this. Who knows what they'll be in a year. All depends on if the ps3 continues to beat the 360 in sales after the 360 reliability issues were publicized. Both systems are so powerful its really about time and money. The 360 is the mainstream system, like the ps2 was last time around, and will get most of the time and money. Even though the Wii SHOULD have this title. I swear devs just think its a fad or something. The next Unreal game, according to Epic, will be the first game better on the ps3 than 360. They credit, mainly, the blu-ray drive to store larger textures and such.
Also, being that 100% of the systems are defective, I would rather play the 3rd party games on a system that won't break and due to the MASSIVE amount of broken systems take 6 weeks to get back. I also like the ps3 controller better than the 360.
In terms of online capabilities, I'm not quite sure how the ps3 has been a let down. I've played several games where I can hop on with no problem and play people online. In fact, I rented 2k games for both systems and had the same experience on both. The ps3 has voice and video chat as well. I guess I'm assuming that its the store that needs work. PlayStation Home should be really cool too, once that comes out in a few months.
I think its funny how I've become the ps3 fanboy here, and I don't have an undying love for the console. It is just amazing to me the amount of hate it has received. I still think it goes back to the principle of social psychology that says once someone buys something they immediately do everything they can to justify that purchase, include slamming the competition. People have the 360, its the first system out and all, so they slam the new comer. Same thing happened when the Xbox came out. It took a long time before it was seen as an ok console to have.
I'm really not interested in the 360 games mentioned, and to be honest the only exclusives on either system that I care about are White Knight Story, MGS, Final Fantasy XIII, and Warhawk. Eternal Sonata will probably be my next 360 game. I was going to get Halo, but it doesn't look like I'll have my 360 back in time.
The Wii and DS are my favorite systems by far this gen. Metroid Prime 3 is better than anything I've played this gen, so far. Ps3 comes in a fairly distant second, and the 360 I struggle through to play some of the games I'd like to play.
Console devotion and religion are really pretty similar.
Anyway, all the consoles have something to love. Having the fans of each system call me biased is a bit of a complement. Means I am truly in the middle.

All gamers need now is their own Crusades and we're set...
...
*sigh* If no one else will do it I'll be back in a week. Make sure you are allfully prepared with guns, knifes, and one of every console so that it may be used as a shield against the fanboys of the system you shield yourself with.
