So lately I've been having problems connecting with Xbox Live to other players, and a recent Connection Test on the 360 revealed to me that for some reason, I was under Strict NAT Settings, which is a big no-no for playing online. Keeps you from being able to connect with other players even though you can see them. After a little research and work, I determined it wasn't my router causing the problems, it was my ISP, a little junket called ApartmentHost.com which apparently provides DSL hosting from some place on the east coast to apartment complexes around the country. I called them up, talked to someone, he said he'd talk to the techs and get back with me in the morning. Well this morning I wake up to a voicemail saying they won't help me.
WON'T HELP ME.
Said something about having to set up 1:1 NAT settings which would block those ports for everyone else in the complex. They won't open the blocked ports either, not because they can't, but because they won't.
The moral of this story is: if you sign up for an apartment complex that offers this service, tell them to stick it where the Xbox don't shine. As soon as I get back on my feet financially, I'm calling AT&T and gonna get me some reeeeeal DSL.
