i checked out that 25 most over hyped games, what a joke. not that i don't agree with a few of those. however after reading most of the reasons that they posted as back up it led me to on thing. gamespy has shit for writers. what crappy crappy writing. also i checked out their grudge match crap. its a lot like gamefaqs character battle but, you know, ass lame.

i've been rapping for about seventeen years, okay. i don't write my stuff anymore, i just kick it from my head, you know what i'm saying, i can do that. no disrespect, but thats how i am.
Yeah - some of those games were way overhyped to begin with (like Daikatana) but their basis behind choosing a lot of the games was really flawed. When you look back at a lot of old games, they'll never be as pretty or have the newest features, but isn't the primary purpose of playing games to have fun? If the vast majority of those games were released right now, then the claims of overhyping them would be justified (since most of them don't measure up to today's high standards).
However, I know tons of people that have gotten great enjoyment out of many games on that list in the past, which is what really matters. As a whole, the feature just seemed like a way to adjust their review scores due to the passage of time, which really wasn't necessary. The avatars of the gamespy staff look nice though.

There are two reasons I haven't really fought back yet. One, i haven't had time. And two, I don't really think it's worth the time. Tycho over on PA hit the nail right on the head when he said these guys were obviously just trying to generate site traffic. I mean come on, FFVII overrated? Halo? Donkey Kong Country? These guys are complete idiots, and I hope that no one really went to check it out...

ya Tycho really did a good job. he's a damn good writer; it's no wonder that the PA guys are the much-adored prophets for us commoners. i boycott gamespy and ign anyway. gamespot's where the good stuff is.
I have spoken.
Hell ya, Gamespot is the place to go. IGN is a lot worse about advertisements than Gamespot, too. Feels like every time I try to move to a new page, I'm hit with another stupid ad. Not very productive or time efficient when you're trying to do reasearch for the show .Realm wrote:i boycott gamespy and ign anyway. gamespot's where the good stuff is.
