360 lacks 1080p support
Thought I would add this since I found this out on the phone with Microsoft this morning. The 1080P setting that they added with the last update doesn't actually do anything.. the console still outputs in 1080i. It may SAY 1080p, but that is it. The only way to get it to output in 1080p is to get a VGA adapter... or a ps3. This is straight from the horses mouth my friends. Now, I know most people don't care, but I certainly found it interesting that they added an update that doesn't do anything.

You know what I can't wait for?
For the goddamn ceiling to be hit. For there to come a point where it wouldn't matter how much higher the resolution got because we wouldn't be able to tell even with a trained eye, and for that to be the goddamn standard so we can all stop worrying about this and that.

1080p is pretty damn amazing. I don't know if you could notice any difference at a higher rez.RurouniQ wrote:You know what I can't wait for?

Component can indeed to 1080p: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Component_video
As an aside, the resolution ceiling is relatively transfinite, as display screens can always increase in size and make it matter more. As long as screens keep getting bigger, so will resolution get higher.Component video is capable of producing signals such as 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p
