I guess you could listen to other music too. Music beyond games here.

I'm in the mood to be converted to some new music.

Indulge me and recommend some songs to me - and explain the reasons for your choice.

Anything that's been deemed a "classic" or "ground breaking" or "revolutionary" is a sure bet. Albums like that have been able to stand the test of time not only because they're original, but because they are almost always guaranteed to be damn good. These are albums that you'll hear your favorite artists cite as influences. If you ever hear artists talk about other artists that were influential to them, check that stuff out.

Also, allmusic.com is an incredible resource.

So, this is what I tend to do when I find a current artist that I enjoy. I find that artist's influences. Then I find the influence's influences and so on.

Also, don't be afraid to try some new genres out. If you listen to mostly rock, try some hip-hop, or even some country. It's also fun to dive into subgenres of your favorite genres.

If you want to be uplifted and you don't listen to ska, then you should start. Ska music is great. Try Reel Big Fish out first, and see what you think.

Listening to Chloroform now... mellow ^_^ Exactly what I need right now - thanks!

Oddly I would never have listened to Ska, but recently I listened to some Reel Big Fish and now Drunk Again is one of my favourite songs ever.

Any other suggestions?

I would also suggest Alkaline Trio because of their dark, ill/death inspired lyrics, and PANIC! At The Disco. A band that a year or so ago was really just known here in Vegas where they're from. But, the music is great, just ask Richie, I got him into them too.

I didn't realize Richie was into em. He didn't say anything when they were on the radio in L.A.

As for suggestions, I'll have some of my own later.

If you're getting into ska, definately check out some two tone ska revival bands like The Specials and Madness. It's old stuff, but it's goooooooood.

I hadn't heard their whole album 'till I got back from E3. There's more to it than just The Adventure.

I was talking about PANIC! The Adventure is by Angels and Airwaves, and I didn't mention them. S'all love though, I'm just curious.

Ah hell, my bad. For me, PANIC is just alright, not really worth putting on my MP3 player. But there are some AvA songs I've gotten attached to.

The Forum subject "Other Music" might be the key to that, :P.

Jay T - The Game Show

j/k.......seriously, PANIC! kicks some ass.

I was going to suggest Dream Theatre "Metropolis" and anything by the D.O.C or Big Daddy Kane.

I've been checking some of this out... unfortunately I've been engaged in long and involved conversations at home, so I just dumped a load of stuff on my shuffle. So, I'm liking stuff, but am not sure who it's by.

This morning I was listening to a song called I think boys will be boys which I liked ^_^

Been listening to quite a lot of different music, trying to figure out what I like... I think I have quite eclectic tastes really. For me it's more about individual songs or albums than being into a band as a whole. I like music that makes me feel something deeper, but I also like fun songs and sometimes aggressive beats.

I quite like The Specials thanks weezerjedi ^_^

And Mecha poppet, I have a whole collection of video game soundtracks but I don't always want to listen to them as I travel to and from work.

Keep the suggestions coming ^_^

And rest assured... when I'm not teetering on the brink of financial ruin, I WILL be buying anything that I try and like.
