There's the thing. Story and coherency are very important things for me when it comes to a movie. It's very rare that I enjoy a movie solely on how it was filmed.

In X3's case, I did not care to notice how well it was shot, because it's a Hollywood film. I take Hollywood for granted because alot of things out of Hollywood are shot well. I already knew X3 would look good.

I will agree that X3 was good if you're talking about how it was filmed.

That's very important for me as well.. I think all aspects of film as an art should be done well. I felt that the story was coherent.. not genius, but definitely coherent. There wasn't anything in the film that didn't work. I still don't know how I feel about some of the film.. Xavier exploding with Magneto sitting there.. and many other things (random mutant appearances, Callisto having super speed..) But, as a movie removed from the comic book series (experienced as a what if scenerio) I fail to see how it does not work as a movie. I wouldn't have done many of the things the same way.. For fuck's sake, Rattner wanted to put mutant hookers in the movie. I wish Bryan Singer had directed the movie.. This movie is far from what I wanted, in other words.. But, in terms of what we have.. I think it works and I like it. I could've loved it, and it could've been better.. but its not and many things in life aren't.

I think the bottom line is that the movie was rushed. Yes, I was dissapointed with many things. Sometimes when I state my opinions, I feel as if I say things the wrong way to give the impression that I love something I merely like. X3 wasn't meant (unfortunately) to be a great movie with a great story, it was meant to be a fun movie where Magneto moves the Golden Gate bridge. It could've, and I wish it was, a hell of a lot more.

In the end, I think ego was what hurt this movie more than anything. Fox's egos being hurt by X-Men going back to the cartoon, carrying over to the problems they dealt Bryan with X1 (lack of time and funding) and culminating with Rattner and X3. Halle's ego needing to be fed more than she wanted to further the story. I mean, we could all go on to list things. In the face of the adversity, X3 is better than I thought it would be...

While I still don't agree with some of the things you said (story being coherent and about everything working), I don't think there's a point in arguing. So, I will just move on and pretty much forget about X3 as I look to the horizon for Superman to save me. X3 had some cool moments, but not enough for me to go back to the theatre for another viewing.

Seemed to me to have orderly, logical, and aesthetically consistent relation of parts to me. But, I do agree there is no point to arguing, and that I won't be seeing it in the theatre again. Our opinions are out there.. and to that extent that is all they can do is be out there.

You're prolly right on this one anyway, the only two people that I know (and would care what they thought) that agree with me on X3 is the guy I talked to from USC and Existy.

there wasn't much logical about the Iceman/Rogue/Kitty scenario.....Angel never interacting with the Xmen.....Colossus' lack of speech/lack of Russian ethnicity.....Pyro's sudden hatred of Iceman(yeah, he had philosophical differences, but he had enough of a loyalty to save them from the cops in X2)

Xavier and Phoenix's battle was the biggest joke. The beginning of the movie showed a prepubescent Jean lift every car within a 5 block radius. So you tell me why 2 Level 5 mutants maxing out their power was only enough to lift the house they were in, while the rest of the neighborhood was just business as usual. Logically(within Marvel sense) half the continent should have been shaking.

there were major plotholes....not compared to the comic, but within the first 2 movies. I won't support Singer's jump to Superman either, cause he flip flopped quicker than John Kerry. I'll stick to the first 2 movies, which had a lack of Halle Berry(who never wanted to do the film in the first place...dumb broad.)

Just got back from seeing it.

Honestly, I enjoyed it. There were indeed some parts that made me cringe, and some things that didn't make complete sense. But overall, enjoyable.
