I think that in halo2 the master cheif should be able to give directions and commands to the marines, to make for better strategy.

If you do that, it changes the gameplay dramatically. You no longer have an FPS like Quake, and now it's more like Rainbow Six. It's too different from Halo 1, so don't count on it.
