I'm excited, although the track times don't mean anything to me. Songs take as long as they need to. I do like the titles, although we have known them for a while now. My favorite thing so far is the reference to the Rosetta Stone. Wiki that if you don't know what it was. We studied it in one of my classes. Since the album is more personal and less external, I'm wondering how that theme will come into play lyrically. Dammit, I've got to get back to my damn paper.

So. Just Found these on Tool Navy. Looks very plausable to me. That is Maynard and all. They both look pretty cool, check it out :

I saw those too. I think that the mohawk thing is a reference to old-school "angry" Maynard from the early 90s since the new album is supposed to be angry. Also there was a new magazine interview released today: (This was translated by a French member of toolnavy, so the English isn't perfect.)

- they didn't gave titles during the listening session, because the weren't sure about them at the time. Yet Adam mentions "lost keys" and "rosetta".
- "Lost keys" is "the introduction to "rosetta"".
- Maynard was there at the beginning of the writing process, than left before coming back. Adam says that it's better than for Lateralus (Maynard only came when all the songs were already written), but he hopes Maynard will be here all the time for the next album.
- How Adam would define Tool : "there are a lot of maths, it's heavy and you're not gonna like it."
- There is no DVD in the works. There were plans, but they prefered to make a new album. The new album and the tour are the priorities.
- They love France.
- The set for the tour will be sober, at least for the first shows.
- The album is their most personnal, it's "coming from the guts". Some usual rant about how Bush is stupid and how the album is about frustration. But Danny adds that the approach to politics in Tool is different from the one of APC, they don't want to adopt a close political discourse which would be fast outdated.
- The reviewer says that Danny is more busy than ever on the drums. Danny answers that he's not looking to play a lot of notes but wants to densify the sonic space and to dynamise the music, but that nevertheless the king in the movie Amadeus would say about his playing : "Too many notes!".
- APC is over.
- They would like to get rid of labels and to do everything by themselves, and they think artists will be able to do so soon.
- They don't take themselves seriously at all.

:( Boooo. I liked APC. Well, I liked the first two albums, eMotive I didn't care for. But the 13th Step especially is one my favorite cd's. Oh well, new Tool, no new APC, give and take I guess.
I have spoken.

I'm a bit sad as well, Judith is my favorite song. This will mean more frequent tool releases.

Looking back at the picture with Maynard in it.. I love the symbolism in conjunction what has been said about the album. Maynard's theme is basically, "speaking to deaf ears." The representation of an avg. American or politician sitting there toasting while the world is ending (Empire State Building in smoke) is great. There's more to it than that, you've got the curtians and all that, but I'll leave that up to you.

As I said before, though, I really love the mohawk thing. I think it may be a response that he is still that angry Maynard, but also the loving and compassionate one. Positivity in anger. As Adam and Maynard have both said, after all, the band's overall themes are love, compassion, and hope through adversity.

Holy fucking fuck. so uh, yeah that kind of took me by surprise. APC is gone. Really wasn't expecting that, but then again, who was? To answer you Break, you said more frequent Tool releases. I really don't think that will happen. I think Maynard wants to try out Puscifer instead of APC, he probably wants to see if that will take off like A Perfect Circle did in 2000. So it won't really be a change in the time spent waiting for the next Tool release. Unless I'm totally wrong, but the way that Maynard has been showing Puscifer (ex. the website change, the T-shirts at Caduceus).

I really believe that he cut APC to try it out. I really don't mind. You can't really blame Maynard, APC wasn't supposed to get as big as they did, it just happened. We'll see, I don't mind if Puscifer is given a shot, and even if it isn't, I'd still be ok with it, as long as Tool is around for about 2 more albums after this one (which is a bit of a stretch) but I think its possible. Its all down to how long they wan't to keep making music. Clearly the band isn't out to make the $$$$, they are out to express theirselves musically, and that is what really matters.

"Q : What is the future for APC?
Maynard : I think it's over.
Q : Really? It's sad...
Maynard : we pushed this project as far as it could go, and I see ourselves playing again together only in a few years to make one or two songs, nothing more."

He then adds that he only sees APC in a system without labels, big budgets, marketing, where they could play and release new songs whenever they want.

Maynard seems to have a fetish for side projects. Not a bad thing by any means, especially since he's able to do it and still stay with Tool. Kindof like Chino of Deftones, but more so.

Speaking of which, did anyone on here happen to pick up "B-Sides and Rarities"? I haven't yet, wondering if it is good or not.
I have spoken.

If you're a huge deftones fan you'll like it. I really like the DVD that comes with it.
