Nintendo GDC 2006

Post by AIDS »

Iwata gave a keynote speech today...

*Will Wright showed up to play Brain Age for DS

*a Cel-shaded Zelda is coming out on DS (Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass)

*Genesis, Turbo Grafix 16, and Hudson games will be available for download on Revolution.

*Iwata said “In a few weeks, you will play and see and understand our philosophy.” I'm pretty sure that means Revolution will be playable at E3!

Tech Specs were also released for the Revolution.

Not really much detail but it is rumored to be two to three times as powerful as the GameCube. Then again, the Xbox 360 doesn't look THAT much better than an Xbox to me.

Iwata also said that games will not be more than $50 which is a relief.

I agree with Mecha.....to a degree. The difference between a Fight Night 3 on X360 and X1 is huge.

however, you put Top Spin 1 and 2 side by side, and there is no difference....hell, you put Top Spin 2 and Virtua Tennis side by side and there's no difference.

Yes Fight Night 3 on the 360 does look ten times better. I guess it all depends on the game. It seems that mainly the 360 exclusive games look the best.

It might also be easier to accomplished better graphics in Fight Night since there are only 2 boxers and a ring unlike a game like PDZ where you have large levels and multiple people on screen.

Then again...PDZ is a pretty good looking game.

Yeah, but any of the Time Splitters is better than Perfect Dark Zero. And Mike Tyson's Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out are better than any Fight Night.

Remember, too, that developers are still warming up to the 360. As with all console generations, the best graphics arn't seen until later on.

I bet we ain't seen nothin' yet.

It seems to me that developers are just making games for the Xbox and then just porting them over to the 360 with a minor upgrade. There are very few 360 exclusives.

I don't remember back when the Playstation 2 came out that they made games that were on both the PS1 and PS2. The only game I can remember doing that was Madden.

With this generation almost every XBox 360 game is on the orginal XBox.

I suppose that's the price to be paid when a next-gen system was pushed out the game while the current gen was and is still quite lively.

In time, that'll change; though, right now I'm still not ready to throw down $400+ for a console. That's crazy talk, as far as I'm concerned.

Yo Robo, welcome. :)

I agree, that's what you get when you rush a release. Too early + too few to go around = lose

What about last generation PS1 games versus first generation PS2 games? Huge difference.

Danke, Richie.

I'm sure come the shift to Autumn we'll see 360 titles given more deserving treatment of the hardware they'll be made for in time for the holiday season to begin anew.

To this, I quote you:
Mecha wrote:Yes Fight Night 3 on the 360 does look ten times better.
And that's not true only of Fight Night: There are other 360 games that look much better than seXbox games. The only reason this isn't true for ALL 360 games, is the trend of producers (read: EA) to do multiconsole releases; such wasn't true when the PS2 was released.
