I've been interested in this game for a long time, since last E3. Finally we get a playable beta of the game if we pre-order. Has anyone else played the beta yet. I just downloaded and started playing yesterday, and I have to say I'm quite hooked..
It reminds me of a mixture between Counter-Strike and Half-Life with a bit of something new. At first I was skeptical because of the almost always instant kills. I tend to like the more arcade feel of a UT or HL2 DM game over the more realistic games, but I kept playing. And now I'm totally hooked. It's more realistic, but has a nice fast paced feel to it. I especially like the drop kick you can to your enemies.
And for anyone wanting to play this on a slower machine, you probably can. I only have a Geforce 3 and a 1.4 Athlon and the game runss almost flawlessly. I've had one instance of bad lag, and a couple minor framerate hickups, but it's mostly been very solid. I can't wait to see the single player, and I hope they add a few more maps or features to the beta soon.
My only main complaint I can think of at the moment is the text that appears while playing. Sometimes you get a lot of text in the middle of the screen, and it's quite annoying. I wish it were toward the very top or bottom. The game has also disconnected me from a couple games and exited to the desktop a couple times, but it's been pretty solid playing today.
Anyone else play yet?
F.E.A.R. Beta
I know no one has replied, but I wonder if anyone else has played much of this or is looking foreword to it as much as I am. I honestly haven't been hooked on any game, single or multiplayer PC game for a very long time, including Half-Life 2. I really can't wait for this game from what I've seen, and played form the single player demo and mp beta. I just wish I had a better system to actually run the game. It looks pretty pathetic now, but at least I can play for now.
Now that the game is actually out, anyone play it, like it, hate it?
I love the game. The slowmo and melee add a little something new to the FPS. The levels can get a bit repetitive, but I'd rather fight in an office building than an alien complex, which is starting to really get old. I like more Earthly settings.
The only thing I hate about this game is the system requirements. This game is a beast, and I have to run it on rather low settings. And I hear on very high end systems it can even chop up. Still a very fun game.
