I've only just started watching Gravitation *swoons* and it made me wonder what else in this vein that I might be missing out on? Could anyone recommend other series / titles that have a similar theme?

The one popular series that I have never seen... Shame on me! I do not deserve the title of anime guru...

Aside from my faliures, you might want to check out:

"Gravitation OAV: Lyrics of Love"
Sequel to the popular series. Summary withheld because you haven't finished the series.

"Full Moon wo Sagashite"
An 11-year-old girl has a throat tumor and cannot make her dream of becoming a singer come true. One day, she is visited by two Shinigami (angel's of death). After a few awkward moments where she was informed that she only had a year left to live, she makes a deal with them and is temporarily transformed into "Full Moon", a blonde 16-year-old. After auditioning for a record company, she becomes a musical sensation -- her dreams finally realized -- and she now only has to find the guy she did it for.

- - - -

Those are the only two series that I have seen or know of that have a musical relation. I know there are more, but I cannot recall their names at this moment. If I think of anything, I'll let you know. Full Moon wo Sagashite is perhaps one of my most favorite anime of all time and I highly recommend it.

You know, it didn't occur to me until I was driving to school yesterday what you meant by "theme". I was trying to figure out what musical themed anime that I also knew when it hit me you were talking about other shounen-ai (boy-boy romance).

Japan produces a lot of shounen-ai, but it's mostly in manga format. There are still quite a few anime (note I've only seen about half of these, so I can't say they're all good):

These lists were compiled by a shonen-ai/yaoi loving girl I happen to know, so you should like them.

Yaoi:
Yaoi series contain sex scenes, but they're still fun to watch.
Ai no Kusabi
Boku no Sexual Harassment
Enzai OVAs
Fujimi Orchestra
Haru wo Daiteita OVAs
Legend of Blue Wolves
Level C
Sensitive Pornograph

Sounen-ai
These have no sex, just "suggestive" stuff. Promise!
After School in the Teacher's Lounge
Be-Boy Kidnapp'n Idol
Boku wa Konomana Kaerarai (Our Road of No Return)
Cathexis
Earthian
Fake
Fish in the Trap
Gravitation series & OVAs
Kasho no Tsuki
Kaze to Ki no Uta (Song of Wind & Trees)
Kimera
Kizuna
Kusatta Kyoushi no Houteishiki (Bad Teacher's Equation)
Lesson XX
Loveless
Mirage of Blaze series
Mirage of Blaze OVAs
Patalliro Saiyuki
Seikimatsu Darling
Sukisyo TV
Yami no Matsuei
Zetsuai & Bronze

Nope. There's no sex in that series, as stated in italics above. As proof, here's the synopsis for Lesson XX:

The story of Lesson XX revolves around two boys: Shizuka and Sakura, who are friends at a coed boarding school.

One day, Shizuka notices Sakura's sheer beauty when he dives in to take a hit from a baseball, and after some confusion as to who Sakura likes, Shizuka tells him he wishes to kiss him as a joke. However, Sakura doesn't care; he still insists that the two kiss under the starry sky.

After this incident, Shizuka tjomls it to be best that the two to be away from each other, so as to sort out their thoughts and real feelings. A classic shounen ai/yaoi, incorporating love, misunderstanding, violence and some angst, with a little twist sweetness to it.

A special note is that most guy-guy romance series are called "yaoi" in Japan -- there is no distinction between it and shounen-ai sexually because Japan is an "open enviroment" compared to America.

However, for simplicity, I have the series with sexually explicit stuff listed under the yaoi section here because in America the word yaoi pertains to the sexual stories, where as the plain shonen-ai is the non-sexual stories. If you go search on your own, be aware of that difference.
