Interview with Halo2 programmer
Will we ever get a chance to play the demo?
I was wondering if the public will ever get a chance to play the demo before halo2's release next year?

Well, I know I can't say for certain about that, but I think that MS would be foolhardy not to release something like that before the game's release in order to build up hype. Maybe it won't be that exact same level, or situation in the game, but I think they might put something on an OXM disc just so that everyone:
A) buys OXM for the demo
B) buys Halo 2 because it's gonna be friggin' sweet.

Just wanted to say I enjoyed the interview (it was a little ghetto at times, if you don't mind me saying ) and also wanted to post something I think would be cool (it was said many times to post shit, hopefully this is the right place).
When the Brute jumped on the Warthog in the E3 demo was a great moment to watch, I think it'd be awesome if the Warthog's physics were displayed during those occassions. The Warthog has four-wheel independant suspension so what if when a heavy alien, in this example a Brute, jumped on the 'Hog if the suspension went crazy according to where the Brute is on the 'Hog and also depending on how violently the Brute is behaving?
This could then throw off the driver's control momentarily until they get the thing back under control or until the enemy was dispatched. This could add to the team control of the Warthog (and other vehicles), because until the enemy is off the vehicle it'd be harder for the driver to control, thus making it harder for the gunners to kill anything. So, as the driver, when there's a Brute or something on your vehicle you'd need your gunner to kill it if you want to actually control the thing.
It's probably a stupid idea and one which could be more annoying than cool in practice... but I think it'd be cool.

Too bad I didn't find this site until this morning. I was wondering if anyone has taken into account the fact that a lot of us XBOX owners who ran out and bought one the first day grew accustomed to the original controller. Since Microsoft has been bundling the controller-s for a while now, how will this reflect on gameplay? I can kiss much ass with the larger controller, thanks.

WHEN IS HALO2 COMING OUT TELL ME TELL ME PLEASEBreakmanX wrote:On May 17th, 2003 we will be doing a live interview with Greg Snook, who is an employee for Bungie. He is currently doing programming duties for Halo2. We will open it up so listeners can ask Mr. Snook questions, as well.
If you have any questions you would like us to ask, please post them here.
Expect a Halo2 feature on BreakmanX.com in the coming weeks, as we will also be getting some media from Bungie to post.

While I'd like to believe the above (actually, i'd like to believe that it will come out before the above date), I believe that Bungie's official word right now is the infamous, "When It's Done".
So...unless we hear anything from MightyBean confirming or denying this, I'm gonna stick to WID, with a good possibility for Q1 2004.

I'd take a "when it's done" any day over a set release date, if I knew that ment doing it right. God forbid they would give us a too-early date, then delay it, crushing the hopes of all *cough*...Galaxies...*cough*Jack Burton wrote:So...unless we hear anything from MightyBean confirming or denying this, I'm gonna stick to WID, with a good possibility for Q1 2004.

more vague answers...
great ideas so far. Keep 'em coming!
Here are patented Bungie answers to some of the questions:
"I was wondering if the public will ever get a chance to play the demo before halo2's release next year?"
No solid plans yet, but I agree with Jack Burton that MS would be crazy not to put out some kind of demo.
"When the Brute jumped on the Warthog in the E3 demo was a great moment to watch, I think it'd be awesome if the Warthog's physics were displayed during those occasions."
I agree. Luckily, this is part of the code that I'm involved in
"I was wondering if anyone has taken into account the fact that a lot of us XBOX owners who ran out and bought one the first day grew accustomed to the original controller."
We are well aware of that. Halo1 was designed for the 'big paw' controller (my favorite). We need to find the sweet spot between making the controls comfortable for s-controller players while not making drastic control changes from Halo1. I have a huge amount of trust in our designers and testers to find the best layout.

The official release date is "when it's ready". MS is giving us a lot of room to make the game everything we want it to be. That being said, we don't plan on keeping people waiting too long.
