Zelda Delayed until 2006

Post by Jack Burton »

The hits keep on comin' for Nintendo:

"After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess," explains Perrin Kaplan. "Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31). We'll provide a specific date at a later point in time. While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller."

I've never considered a game delay a "hit." Better late and better than now and shitty. Then again I don't have it out for all non-microsoft game developers ;)

That's true, but what does Nintendo have for this holiday season BESIDES Zelda? DDR Mario Mix? This is a definite blow to Nintendo's holiday plans this year. And yes, I would much rather have an amazing Zelda than a crappy, half-assed one *cough*Windwaker*cough* So I'm cool with the wait, but Nintendo has really dug the GC into a hole for this holiday season without their biggest flagship title.

sounds cool to me.

I'd rather play a polished Zelda game, than an ''annual update" like they seem to do with SO many franchises(ahem, Mega Man).

Nintendo has survived a lot worse, the least of which is maintaining competition with the Gamecube without a major Zelda or Mario in the last 2-3 years.

*At the hall of Nintendo as the new release date rolls around*

"Ok so the two new dungeons are good to go right? And the gameplay has been perfected...RIGHT?"

"Yes to both of those questions, but we forgot something. We forgot to put a magma dungeon. Adding that will take at least 4 more months, and by that time the Revolution will be out."

"So what are you saying?"

"We're gonna put Twilight Princess on the Revolution! We'll make billions!"

"O im so gonna kick your ass when you cant afford a lawyer"

It does really suck Zelda's not coming out this year because that was the one must have game for me this fall. But I'm not too upset because I want a a quality game. Wind Waker was good. I had a lot of fun, but the fetch quests at the end were very lame. I felt cheated out of a lot of dungeon time.

In a way it would be nice to have Zelda out right away on Revolution, but a GC release would be nice too especially since Nintendo is promising such good things to current GameCube owners. Don't get rid of your system because this game is going to be worth waiting for. Yes, the Revolution will be backwards compatible via an add-on thing, but it would still piss a lot of GameCube fans off. Besides it's kind of pointless to announce the game for a system they refuse to talk about at all.
