Right, I understand all the above points. I just think Nintendo should try to be more on the cutting edge at launch, not lagging behind even if they do think they are on an island somewhere away from everyone. Back with the NES they supported the RCA out which was pretty forward thinking on their part, not to mention the controller design and everything else that was revolutionary.
The NES is still my favorite system, and I have more fun with it than any other system by far. Part of that may be nostalgia, but I think a lot of it is solid gameplay. If Nintendo manages to offer a platform that harkens back to this, the definition won't make or break it. They are playing their game, and I am excited to see how it plays out.
As a gamer, anyone that knows me well will say the gameplay is what matters to me. But, inside the mind of Break also lives and Audiophile and someone who loves HD. That part of me wants so badly for Nintendo to put that step forward as they did with the NES by offering the latest type of output. Granted, RCA cables simply made the picture look better it didn't raise the resolution, but I still want my HD. I also want the optical out to hear things from all around me, and have crystal clear audio.
But, if the gameplay is good enough I can overlook the technical aspects just as I do with classic games.

Nintendo won't support HD with Revolution
I must be retarded then, because I play games with normal RCA cables and sometimes even coaxial. I also only play games in stereo sound on a TV that has slight burn in that's sometimes noticable. I guess I've never been someone on the cutting edge of technology. But maybe I don't really care. Just as long as I can meet the minimum requirements, I'm happy. Now that I think about it, that's similar to how I live my life.
Hell hath no fury for a woman's scorn for Sega.

I'm pretty much done with Nintendo systems. The N64 and GC never built up any steam with me. It's all my fault of course, i just never got interested in their offerings. Okay, I want to play RE4, but my life will continue if I don't.
Games in general have really faded as a top interest. Well, to a degree. I pretty much only play fighting games for tournaments these days. Santa Fe sucks for any kind of interactive gaming, and Live isn't as fun as it used to be for me. But that's just me. I haven't missed my cube since unplugging it.
They'll have killer games for the N faithful, but I'm going to skip Nintendo this next gen. Have fun y'all, cuz this is no dis on Nintendo.

I'll be damned if I ever get beat by a button masher!!!
