No big surprises: Half-Life2 wins best of show, Halo2 wins best console game.

My Rant:
Would you judge Mario Kart Double Dash alongside Grand Turismo4 and Gotham2 for best racing game? A distinction needs to be made between racing games and racing simulations.

My best of show would go to Halo2, but that's just me. Half Life2 seemed to have the best graphics, but I bet I'll have a lot more fun and put more hours in with Halo2. Half Life 2 seemed to be more concerned with technical achievements, while Halo2 balanced both. When it all comes down to it, its all about gameplay. Which Halo2 looks to have the upper hand.

I whole heartedly agree with your rant. Same thing with F-Zero.

Its kind of like trying to say NFL Blitz, Madden, and the NFL2k series are all the same type of game.

I thought that too.. Although, some people (myself) seem to get more excited over the features of an engine more-so than the gameplay. Other thing to keep in mind is that Halo2 is primerily being 'sold' to gamers.. Half-life 2 is being 'sold' to gamers and developers; I'd suspect a large portion of valves revenue will come from selling the source engine to other developers.

Anyway.. Ive gone off topic a bit..
Let me just say that Halo2 looked absolutly 'cream-my-pants' awesome... but in my opinion, Half-life2 looked that good and then some.
