Die PSP!

Post by Dubya »

IGN wrote:According to retail sales tracking service Media Create, Nintendo DS games continue to lead the pack in the Japanese handheld sector. Wario Ware Touched! (Sawaru Made in Wario) and Super Mario 64 DS sold a cumulative 249,000 and 241,000 copies respectively in Japan, nabbing spots #4 and #5 on the weekly sales chart ending December 19, 2004.

Sales of the two DS games nearly tripled those of Sony PSP's biggest seller, Ridge Racers, which sold 87,000 copies since its launch on December 12. At the same time, Game Boy Advance title sales are also still going strong.

1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2): 487,000 units (487,000 total)
2. Tales of Rebirth (PS2): 372,000 (372,000)
3. Dragon Quest VIII (PS2): 116.000 (3,113,000)
4. Wario Ware Touched! (DS): 75,000 (249,000)
5. Super Mario 64 DS (DS): 68,000 (241,000l)
6. Daito Giken Koushiki Pachislo Simulator Yoshimune (PS2): 57,000 (234,000)
7. Pokemon Emerald (GBA): 57,000 (1,250,000)
8. Mario Party 6 (GCN): 57,000 (268,000)
9. Dynasty Warriors (PSP, Koei): 56,000 (56,000)
10. Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team of Blues (GBA): 54,000 (120,000)

Though the newly released Shin Sangoku Musou (Dynasty Warriors) for PSP landed the #9 spot on the weekly charts with 56,000 units, DS launch title Pokemon Dash (#15) also still remains ahead with a cumulative 109,000 sold copies. Konami's new Metal Gear Acid for PSP made its entry on #20 with 24,000 copies in three days of sales.

Japanese publishers remain optimistic about the PSP's future in Japan, citing the low number of systems available in stores as one of the primary reasons why PSP software sales are comparatively low. Nintendo expects to ship 2.8 million DS units to Japanese and American retailers by the end of the year, guaranteeing continued brisk software sales and a faster growing install base.

Like I said before, the people that want to get a PSP and not a DS will be punished enough with their PSP. No further punishment needed.

I agree with Break here. I also will say though, that I plan on getting a DS by my birthday in Feb., but I have no such plans for the PSP.....yet, anyway.

Probably the fact that the PSP is more money and has defects that the DS doesn't. For instance shooting the game from your handheld like a ninja star...

I grabbed this image as an example, thanks to Mecha for posting it.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Sony has not released the US release date and price yet.

But it's not always a direct yen to dollar conversion.

I was speaking mainly about the DS being flat-out better. I've played both, btw. You?
