Ouch for Nintendo. Seriously.
They did release Otogi and Capcom VS SNK 2 for X-Box. I can't remember anything else though.Mecha wrote:0% chance of an Xbox release...Capcom hates Xbox
Also Capcom is doing this with Killer 7. So...Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4, and Killer 7 are no longer Gamecube exclusive. Is it just me, or were they supposed to be exclusive? The only one of those batch of games that ended up being Gamecube exclusive is P.N. 03. And that one was pretty much a let down. There was that other game with a dragon in it, looked similar to Panzer Dragoon or something. But that one was cancelled. This deal that Nintendo did with Capcom ended up really sucking.

This does suck, and I was pretty shocked to read that the other day. GameCube is getting the shaft when it comes to games getting ported. Yeah games get ported all the time, but Nintendo is getting a bit of a disadvantage it seems. Nintendo's already fighting an uphill battle from its mistakes with the N64 and their kiddy image, both of which I think are crap misconceptions anyway. But most of Nintendo's exclusive 3rd party games aren't so exclusive any more, and Nintendo really needs this advantage. Let's see:
Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2
Tales of Symphonia
Sonic Mega Collection
Resident Evil 4
Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2
All these are excellent games and are all unique titles that would really make the Cube stand out a bit more. Monkey Ball is great, and the party games alone are some of the most fun ever. I mean, the credits alone are super fun for some reason.
Sonic Mega Collection was cool. My room mate had it. But the Plus version is going to the other consoles with a game that I must have since I don't have a genesis yet. Comix Zone simply rocked, and is one of the best Genesis games ever in my opinion.
Tales of Symphonia is an excellent RPG that will please RPG fans and action gamers alike. I don't care for the traditional RPG style, but really got into Tales of Symphonia. With the Cube's weak RPG line-up to begin with, this was one strong game that should have stayed exclusive.
The Viewtiful Joe series is classic greatness with new gameplay and technology. It reminds me actually of a film version of Comix Zone with a lot more stuff. Another cool game that made Nintendo stand out.
Now RE 4. This was the main 3rd party game that really made the Cube popular this past year or so. Which makes me wonder, is Capcom's last game, Killer 7, going to be non-exclusive to the Cube too? After promising great exclusive support to Nintendo, they sure changed their mind quicly, and it's definitely Capcom's fault that RE 2 and 3 didn't sell well. Those ports looked like ass.
Nintendo has made some stupid mistakes in the past, and I will be the first to admit that, but I still love the company and what it does and stand for. Their first party games are some of the best ever, and the industry wouldn't be the same without them. But Nintendo can't survive without 3rd party support, and exclusives really help. RE 4 going to PS2 won't kill Nintendo, but it says something...

do you think the game would have sold 1/10 as well as it will on PS2? And nintendo is in many ways for children. tehy may not be "targeting" children...but they are trying to include them. Look at the controller. Every button is a differnt color and size. so that little kids can figure out what buttons to hit. The notches in the controllers are to make sure they run straight. And then look at the games. Ever since i can remeber nintendo has produced exclusivly bright and colorful games. not necissarily bad or anything. Just bright and colorful.. Very cartoony..and they have had darker titles....Resident Evil(stolen from PS) and Metroid, and turok, and that fear of dark or what ever...but not much else...compare that to the colorful bublie ones.
Capcom announced already that they are going to release Killer 7 for the PS2 in Japan. As for the US, as far as I know, it's still esclusive.Wrath wrote:Which makes me wonder, is Capcom's last game, Killer 7, going to be non-exclusive to the Cube too?
If different colored buttons on a controller makes a system kiddy, then I guess the X-Box is a kiddy system also. If you actually compare, both the Gamecube and X-Box controllers have the same amount of colors (6).

It isn't just the colors, man. There is a Big Red button. A little green Button. A "z" button that is purple and hurts my finger if i push it wrong. the Yellow "C" stick. I'm not saying they made it just for little kids, I'm saying they made it so that even little kids could figue it out. WHen a game says . "Press the **** Button to Make Mario Shoot Himself" the kid can say, the button i huge and red and has the letter B on it....3 characteristics that seperate it from the other buttons. Ya know? It doesn't even make it hard to play or anything, i'm not complaining. I had to use it to play Resident eveil:1 and 0(terrible game). I was using the wave bird, wich is a VERY nice remote. TO bad Xbox and PS2 don't have anythign 1st party and made as well.
I do complain about the notches though. WHat's with that? 256 degrees of rotation, and it says...well no...how about 8? Just so little little kids can run in a straight line.
ANd on thing that sucs, that isn't nintendo's fault at all, i keep hurting my thumb becasue i try and hit what would be the R3 button on thee C-stick. man that thig just won't budge.
Also the triggers are weird. Xbox has the best triggers for shooters...becasue they are triggers? And PS2 has the best triggers for about everything else, becasue they are easier to manage. btu the game cube's are so spring loaded, they tned to be either in or out. wich is weird.

How about... both systems have their strengths and weaknesses and are equal in different ways?
Seriously man, what is your obsession with tearing down Xbox and Gamecube? If I didn't know better I'd think you were one of those fanboys that ony had a Ps2.
The triggers are spring loaded because they are sensitive to different pressures... while the Ps2s are not. The Ps2 controller's analog stick only has 3 levels of reading pressure, while the Xbox and Gamecube are almost unlimited. I mean, wow colors are distracting and all, but the controllers also have more features.
After calling out a few of the bluffs from this argument I would also like to say that the Ps2 Controller is better sometimes. Look at Amplitude, MegaMan Anniv Collection, and Street Fighter style games. The fanboys of all systems all claim that SF works better on their system, but after playing them on all it's definately better on Ps2. That said, I really like Xbox's analog sticks. Absolute best analog stick out of the three. The Gamecube controller is the most comfortable (if you aren't already used to any of the other controllers.) I know people who don't like Nintendo don't like to think about history, or the possibility their stuff was influenced by anyone else... but Look at the first Nintendo controller in comparison to all the other controllers. ALL controllers are based off the original NES controller and continued on. Where were the first trigger buttons, analog sticks, d-pads... I could go on. Anyway, love your pad but don't throw it at the others.

I think all the controllers suck for most Capcom fighting games because the best layout would be 2 rows of three buttons, like the arcades. But you can buy controllers like that for the PS2 that are made for Street Fighter Anniversary collection.

I've never had a problem with the GameCube controller. Admit it, it most games, there's one button that you constantly use, particularly in RPG's. The GC controller takes this into account, and puts the A button front and center. There are often other, secondary functions you do during the game, and the buttons are laid out as such: X and Y circle the A button, and the B button is only a centimeter away. It's very logical, if you ask me.
I echo what Break said: The "triggers" on the PS2 controller are buttons, not triggers. One problem with driving in Gran Turismo 3 is not being able to modulate the gas/brake very easily. Sure, the buttons are pressure sensitive, but anyone will tell you the Xbox triggers are much better for the task.

I totally agree. The PS2 controller is VERY hard to drive a GT3 car in some aspects. I mean, yeah, as Richie said, the keys are pressure sensitive, but they don't work nearly as nice as the Xbox controller. The triggers allow for a brake (left trigger) and a gas (right trigger) which helps you on taking corneres, which is the key in racing games. So, yes, the PS2 is ok, but Microsoft definitely got it right with the Xbox controller.
