InuYasha's End

Post by Zephie-chan »

For more information on InuYasha, please see my InuYasha Review.

UPDATED POST (October 27th, 2006):

Rumiko Takahashi's hit television series, InuYasha, ended on September 13th, 2004 with a one hour special of episodes 166-167: "The Bond Between Two - Use The Shard of Shikon!". On October 27th 2006, Adult Swim, the US broadcaster of InuYasha, aired the final English dub episode of InuYasha, episode 167: "The Bond Between Them, Use The Sacred Jewel Shard! Part 2".

However, the final InuYasha installment was not the series, but the fourth movie: On December 23rd 2005, InuYasha Movie 4: "Crimson Hourai Island", was released on retail DVD in Japan. The English release of the DVD, "Fire of the Mystic Island" was released on August 1st, 2006.

Though confirmed on a radio show that there will be OAVs, no one has heard anything more about them. What time will they take place in? Will they take off after Movie 4? No one knows, but I'll be sure to inform you of anything I might find in the future. However, with the adamant silence that has been kept for just over two years, it's doubtful that anything further, anime wise, will surface for InuYasha.

It's recommended you go pick up the VIZ DVD releases of the movies. They're absolutely awesome incarnate: Using the angle feature, they've included both their English video and the original Japanese video -- entirely uncut and unedited. Their subtitled translations are also very awesome and well translated (with no errors, I might add).

A long time ago, it was rumored, as well, that there would be a fifth movie, written by Takahashi Rumiko herself. However, as stated above, nothing regarding the confirmed OAVs or the unconfirmed 5th movie has been heard of from anyone.

The manga continues going strong at the hands of Rumiko Takahashi, who said at the release of the latest InuYasha manga volume, volume 46 (chapter 400), that she still had more stories to tell in our favorite universe, and she plans on creating at least 100 more chapters, if not more.

Alternatively, instead of waiting for the domestic VIZ releases of the manga series, you can seek out the text-only translations of all of the InuYasha mangas, from volume 1 to the latest volume, at the "InuYasha - Sengoku o-Togi Zoushi" website: http://www.wot-club.org.uk/Inuyasha/ .

Rumiko Takahashi is great, I just wish she wrapped up her stories quicker. :P

In addition, CN will be airing the first Inuyasha movie in november if I remember correctly.

Props on the review and on reviving the anime board here (if only briefly). I'm too lazy to actually START threads, I just add to them once they're there.

Adult Swim announced that their new episodes of InuYasha will stop at episode 126 ("Using Heartache for Courage") and repeat. Episodes 127+ will air in 2006, though a specific date is not mentioned.

How many times are they going to do this? God knows they've finished dubbing, and God also knows they're going to keep airing it (it is very doubtful that Viz will deny them license), so why keep halting it? It's pissing me off.

The longer they halt it the longer they can go without licensing a new anime.

At the end of InuYasha Movie 4, "The End" is displayed. If this is what is commonly considered, we are witnessing the very final InuYasha animation we will see... You decide.

The InuYasha manga is slated to end in late 2006. No specific date has been officially announced that could be reliable, however Rumiko Takahashi HAS stated that she plans to end it around that time.

On Friday, October 27th 2006, the English dub of InuYasha by VIZ Media ended, airing, in full and uncut, the final episode of InuYasha episode 167: "The Bond Between Them, Use The Sacred Jewel Shard! Part 2" (US) / "The Bond between Two - Use The Shard of Shikon!" (JP).

In both countries, the anime has ended with no further installments planned or announced; the OAV project presumably abandoned with no mention of further development for the anime series. The InuYasha manga has been slated for another 100 chapters, just recently reaching chapter 400. Rumiko Takahashi has said she still has a few more stories she wants to tell and draw before she gives it up.

Regardless of how the English InuYasha dub started out (the term "ass water" comes to mind), half way through the series, the English actors kinda grew on me, and they got better. My favorite of the series, I think, will always be a tie between David Kaye (Sesshoumaru), Don Brown (Jaken), and Breena O'brian (Rin). They were the best actors out of the entire cast.

Unfortunately, I must give Paul Dobson some slight credit, being able to play both Naraku and Myouga... That's kinda freaky. I still dislike him, though.

I've soured on Inuyasha, unfortunately.

There's just nothing that suprises or interests me anymore. :?

Hmm, another incarnation of Naraku...

Hmm, they almost killed Naraku but he escaped at the last second...

...

*Falls asleep*

Does anything suprising happen in the final stretch? Do you know?
