I didn't know you were such a big fan dcb, but I was (and still kind of am,) as well.
Its a great, albeit slightly different, adaptation of the story. The few changes they made really haven't hurt me that much.
This is definately one of my top five movies of all time. This is what I have wanted to see since I knew what the X-Men were. The first X-Men was great, although underbudgeted in time and money. This one takes off right where the last left off, and truly captures all that is X-Men.
The characters all looked great, and the only one I really had a qualm with was Mystique. Except for the hair color and blue skin; she really looks nothing like her comic book version. Hollywood messed with her a little too much, in my opinion. She would be the only one I would change. But, her appearance didn't take anything away from the movie for me.
A lot of new characters were shown, or maybe just allowed to actually use their power. I got a tingle in my spine every time an old friend was allowed to show himself on screen. Colussus was great... although he didn't sound very Russian. Maybe we just didn't get to hear him talk enough to get it.
Nightcrawler.... damn. Executed to perfection. I just... wow.... Very well done.
I really liked the way Bryan Singer directed the film as well. He introduced the masses to the X-Men last time, and this time he showed them how they kick ass.
***There is a minor spoiler in this paragraph***
The action sequences are awesome. But, the thing that impressed me most was how the X-Men's world came together. The casting, acting, and directing just made it seem so perfect. A treat to the eyes. I also liked how they threw some bones to us X-Men fans; seeing Gambit's name in the computer, and the whole Pheonix thing. I nearly jumped up and down with excitement.
***End Spoiler Alert***
Yeah, its great. See it. There is something in it for everyone, big X-Men fan to average Joe who wants to see some action. The X-Men's story of tolerance, and the parallelism with what the X-Men face to what the U.S. has faced in the 20th, and now 21st century, is presented very well.
It rocks, see it, and do it now.

I still think Mystique rocks. I just, I dunno, seemed kinda glam to me. Would have been nice to have it somewhat similar. Oh well, at least her character was awesome.
I disagree with Cyclops; I felt he looked the part and portrayed Cyclops pretty well. He didn't have quite the screen time that he had in the first one, but was effective when he was in. I felt he was the boy scout we all know and love.

I would rather not ruin it for you, until you see the movie, then I or matt will be happy to explain it to you. It involves being reborn into something greater. And Gambit is a caped card slinging xman. His cards are charged with energy, so they act like bullets. At one point or another, all of the characters either change or evolve, and in most cases, they become more powerful. If you were really into them, like I or matt, the XMEN series is truely a masterpiece. I would reccomend downloadinf some old animated XMEN episodes, it may help with the explaination. I reccomend downloading Pryde of the Xmen, it was the pilot episode, and it gives a good run down of the characters, and the purpose of the Xmen. Jubilee is in it, and she play a big part in the comics and TV series, and Im not sure if her debut will come around in X3 but id like to see it. Omega Red is also something Id like to see, Jugernaut and many others are all due an appearance, but I understand that so many movies and so little time are at hand. I really hope they dont try to make a TV series, (with real people). It wont have the same characters (except for cyclops because he sucks and cant get a better deal) and the show will lack its power of special effects and Hugh Jackman which makes wolverine just plainly KICK ASS. So anyway, I think i went on a tangent there, sorry.

Pryde of the X-Men was a pilot for a different series of X-Men cartoons before the ones with Jubilee. It features different characters, and different voice actors. And isn't up to the quality of the cartoon series of the 90's. Still an interesting watch, but not as good as the later cartoons.
Jubilee had a small cameo in X2. She was one of the children in the prison towards the end. I think Storm even says Jubilee.
Anyway, I agree, watch the cartoons. They're great.

And if ya really want to get your X-Men in... Target, at least my Target in Lawrence, has a DVD and VHS entitled, "The Legend of Wolverine." Which is 5 different episodes from the cartoon that mostly focus on Wolverine. The 5th episode is a bonus one, and is a really great episode as well. Its only 15 bucks on DVD, I suggest it to all that like X-Men.
I want to buy that whole series on DVD. If anyone knows of anyone that wants to part with some X-Men cartoon DVD's let me know.

"My only disappointment in this film lies in the fact that the director failed to give more depth to the leaders of the X-Men. Cyclops and Storm. I do give credit to James Marsden- his acting in this film is great given the limitations that he has to wear sunglasses throughout the film."
