Kids WB: Now Awsome

ROCKMAN.EXE

In case someone hasn't been informed as of yet (it's been three days), the Kids WB lineup in the month of May will be changed to incorporate the new Rockman.EXE series that is currently airing in it's second season in Japan. Here in America it is called "Mega Man: NT Warrior". There has not been a set time announced in which the new dubbed Mega Man will air, but it is scheduled sometime in middle May (next month!). Be sure to check it out, I know I will, and most likely Break too.

I've watched imports of this great anime (the first four episodes) and here are my impressions of it. It does follow the game to almost a center square, but it varies here and there to incorporate a few things that the game didn't explain. The first episode revolves around Fireman and that's where it starts to deviate slightly.

The basic character designs from the game were kept, but the artist has changed since the game; the characters look more 'plump' (as in fatter or more 'rounded') than they really should in my opinion but the person who drew the designs for the Net Navi's (Megaman, Protoman, Gutsman, Roll, etc.) was brought in for the anime and they look exactly as they do in the game, which was a very nice thing for me. Even though it wasn't that bad I did have a slight problem with the animator for Rurouni Kenshin (TV) not coming back to do the Rurouni Kenshin OAV.

Since I don't know what the hell they're actually saying, I can't really give anything about the plot of this new Mega Man anime, but like I said if you've played the games then you'll basically know what's going on. The Japanese dub cast are very good (are they ever bad?) and the voices match each character's looks and personality like a very snug blanket, like when you wrap a 100% cotton blanket around yourself and lay by the fire. Bliss.

There's a lot of humor, and the main comedy relief (Dekao / Dex) does a great job entertaining us all with a steadly flow of humor. Of course, the other characters do contribute to the humor and they do it pretty much at the expense of Dekao.

The intro I could have done with someone else doing the singing, but after watching it a couple more times it grows on you. I know they're going to cut it out of the American version when it hits the Kids WB, but for those who do buy imports, just sit back and listen to the song for a moment, then watch the rest of the show, and then tell me that that song does NOT fit the intro...? I dare you.

The ending outro I loved very much. Just the right amount of spunk for each episode and the singer didn't sound gay like in the intro, heh.

The animation for the whole Rockman.EXE (intro, show, outro, etc.) is done superbly well and is smooth, there aren't any 'ughs' if you know what I mean. The color never hurts the eyes, but at some piont can be a little 'whoa' like (think Mononoke Hime, which is Princess Mononoke in America).

Overall from what I've seen of the Japanese version, I give it a rounded score of 9.5 of 10.0. Watch it. Love it. Cherish it. And if you don't, I'll kick all your scrawny little asses.

man i love rockman.exe! To me its the greats edition of the rockman title! Its freaking great! I love battle network and I've also seen the 1st four episodes of the anime. It might be a little kiddy but its still great. But why the name change to NT warrior. I mean understand the whole mega man thing but why not mega man.exe just like on the game!? DAMN YOU WB! This also sucks cause it means the dvds won't have a sub version on it!

Actually, believe it or not it was Capcom's choice to name it "Mega Man: NT Warrior". Don't ask me why they did it, I think it's stupid as well. And you do have a point, why not "Megaman.EXE"? Or even better yet: Mega Man: Battle Network" like the game itself? Sometimes, I just think these corporate suits are a little wacky in the head. But still, it's Mega Man. Watch it, cherish it, love it.

I don't think i would agree that megaman battle network would be the best title. I think we should stick with megaman.exe. That is if we don't call it rockman.exe. My dream work is working for the magazine shonen jump and helping translate manga in english. I kinda get uptight when people change things when they translate stuff. I think its important to keep a peice of work as it was 1st made, because it was made that way for a reason. I don't care if most people can't understand all the pop cultural stuff, because it wasn't put there for them and if they want to understand it then they should just get off their asses and learn about it or as i plan the translator should add info facts about such things. It just pisses me off like in pokemon when the charcters are eating japanese food and they say shit like "oh boy pizza and lemonade, my favorite!" I mean what the fuck people do the translaters think were blind!? Good LORD!

Ah... I lost Pokémon on the third season, I just think it got too dumb. I mean the new pokemon names were just freaking me out. And they're getting more and more Japanese by the number. There's nothing wrong with that, I'm just saying that I think they need to rethink this strategy of theirs (every season they introduce something more powerful when they clearly said in the previous season that "bla bla was the strongest pokemon known to exist or something like that. And the only name I ever had a problem with was Ho-oh. I always pronounced it Ho ho and watched the older adults look at me like I was some kind of sadistic bastard). I watch it from time to time when I remember it's on. It's not as bad as the past ones I've seen so I just might pick it up again. And I agree, it's like games when they translate them, they censor, cut, mame, and mess with the shit that makes it good. Anime too.

And if you ever do get that job, man, I'll be one of your biggest fans... someone who actually does it for the translation and not the damn money they're getting paid... well, actually, you'd probably be doing it for both  . But you get my point.

If you want to see some pretty good scanlations I know a great site. Its all fan done and non for profit. Some of the english is shaking in Hunter x Hunter, but i think it is just bad editing. The grammer sounds funny and a few words are misspelled. Anyways its something like want i want to do with my life. As for doing it for money the I guess i would have to say that is why i'm doing it. Yet, don't misunderstand me. The money I'm after is only so that I can keep doing what I like. It would allow me to game, eat, and live. I would be able to be up to date with great japanese stuff and have lots of fun and since i would be able to eat an dlive i would be able to translate the stuff for a company and get it published in america! Its win win if I don't die, therefore in a way i have to be doing it for the money.
