Hello everyone!  It feels great to be typing in this space again after too long of a vacation.  There’s a lot going on with me right now, personally, and that  lead to the screeching halt this website experienced in November.  We are alive, and we are back.RurouniQ and I will be starting up The Game Show in the coming weeks.  I’m not going to go into the exact personal details now, if ever, but safe to say my life is changing in many ways.  The most obvious change is that I have moved from Los Angeles back to Lawrence, KS.  In fact, the place that I lived in during my entire KU career was open and I have moved back in as I freaking love this place.  I am sitting in the same exact spot that I broadcasted the first game show, and did everything BreakmanX related until I moved to Los Angeles in 2008.

I graduated USC with my MFA in film and television production, and worked in various capacities in the film industry, but ran into several health and family issues that has basically rendered this impossible.  I am going to go back to The University of Kansas and get my doctorate in Pharmacology and either become a pharmacist like my dad or a research pharmacist looking for possible cancer cures.  This seems like a complete about face, but having two parents facing cancer (my dad for the second time) really changed my perspective on many things.  I still want to do creative things such as this site, movies, music, and games, but I want to do things purely for and from me and not do them for money.  I also love my family and want to spend as much time with them as possible.

Along with this, Padinga has turned into a purely for fun exercise as of this second.  It takes the fun of it to try and make this site a business, and I want to focus on expressing myself and giving others I respect the opportunity to do so as well.  Money and business just seems to taint creative things in a way that destroys the spirit of what I want to create.  I don’t care about a big audience, I don’t care about ad space, I just care about running a website that I can be proud of.

When I first did The Game Show on BreakmanX.com, I did it purely for the fun, and neither of us expected anyone to listen.  I had my computer stream the recorded show on Shoutcast 24/7, and to our complete amazement we had two people listen to the entire show.  We recorded two more and we had 8 people listen to them all the way through.  At that point I decided to turn the show live, and we had many listeners as well as people commenting and interacting with us.  Before long, we started receiving emails from Bungie which led to us getting invited to go up there and see Halo 2 long before release.  We interviewed the Penny-Arcade guys, and started going to E3.  On May 17th, 2003 we did live interview with Greg Snook, who was working on Halo 2, and I got a frantic call from our host telling us that the server was receiving “millions of requests” and that we would have to find another way to host our site.  It was fun.

You can expect to hear from previous staff members occasionally, but there’s no real guarantee on when for that.  A weekly episode of The Game Show will occur and I will write articles along with whoever else wants to.  This isn’t a place where you’re going to find breaking news about things.  This is a place run by gamers who have been playing video games their entire life and will be bringing to your attention the things that strike their fancy.  We will not review or discuss every game, only the ones that we think are worthy to you.  I also will open some forums or something for you guys to talk, if you’d like.

At the end of the day, I do this site because I enjoy it, and I’m going to turn it back into something I can enjoy to the fullest.  Here’s to the future!
