So it looks like Marvel’s #1 film property, the build up to which has seen 5 $80 Million commercials… er, films… hit the big screen, heralding its release, has been having trouble garnering the requisite video game tie-in. Marvel announced today that their Avengers game licence had come back to them, and they were looking for a studio to develop the franchise.
But wasn’t another studio already working on this game?
Yes, THQ was developing the title, but it was scrapped by Marvel for unstated reasons. Likely, they just weren’t liking the direction of the game, but who knows. Subsequently, some of the development team was laid off, and released footage of the game onto the net. Marvel has been trying desperately to shut down the footage whenever it pops up, as it does give away some of the mystery as to the movie’s plot. If you’re curious, and you don’t mind a couple spoilers, hit the jump to see the images!
Here are some images taken from the Avengers game. The villains are, that’s right, Skrulls. Looks like they’re going for some sort of Loki/Secret Invasion cross-over kind of thing.
The game seems to go back and forth between first and third person game play. There are photos out there of first person Hulk-hands, which seems a little awkward for the big guy. If you can find the footage before it goes down again, enjoy. If not, then here are some still to tide you over.

Wow, crazy! Reminds me of that mythical Dark Knight video game that never materialized.
You mean the $500 million missed opportunity? Yeah, no kidding.
