Streaming.

We’re in a strange place, my friends. The world is getting smaller, and the advances of technology are granting the powers of communication to those who have not had them before. Last decade, the hotbuzz communication forums were YouTube and blogging in general (WordPress more or less triumphant over its fallen foes), but in the 2010s, there will be a new victor. I’m calling it right here, right now. The next form of communication is live streaming, and Padinga will be at the fore.

Increasing bandwidth, ever-more-powerful personal computers, and the worldwide conglomeration of the gaming community are leading to the ability to stream games live as they are being played over the internet so others can watch. There are a few flavors that have been running as a community already (Starcraft II, WoW, LoL), but the concept is spreading into the rest of the gaming world. Sites like uStream and Twitch are now offering the ability to stream anything on your PC, and, with the right equipment, any console as well. This is being used to effect for purposes like marathons for charity, gaming tournaments, and game premieres.

And guess what? Padinga has their own streaming channel as well! More after the break.

Anyone who has been watching our site or our Twitter faithfully over the past week may have noticed that posts have been appearing on our site talking about Live Streaming. Our very own Mecha has been live streaming some relatively rare games you won’t see anywhere else, like the Japanese-only Shin Megami Tensei: Soul Hackers.

In the coming days, we’ll be adding a block on the side which will show whether or not we are live streaming, and we will be streaming even more content by the end of the year. We don’t want to make any official announcements just yet at this point, but keep an eye out for:

  • New game playthroughs
  • Live shows
  • Classic game playthroughs
  • Competitive gaming
  • CYOA gaming (I’m not going to say what this means JUST yet, but trust me, it will be awesome)
There’s nowhere to go but up with this technology, my friends. Be on the lookout for epicness to happen right here.
