I like to cover the darker side of E3. It seems in recent years Tekken has been losing steam. What once was considered a top tier fighting game on the playstation has now been overshadowed by the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. I however, still enjoy every installment of tekken and it’s wonderfully unique and bat shit crazy storylines. When I heard that there was going to be a CGI movie in the style of Resident Evil Degeneration, I knew I had to get my hands on it as soon as possible. Here is the trailer for Tekken Blood Vengeance.

Hopefully with the release of Street Fighter X Tekken, the Tekken series will regain it’s ‘King of Iron Fist’ fighting game status, and the masses will run out on launch day and buy every copy of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 when it’s released. Hey, a gamer can dream can’t he?

More Tekken news after the jump.

The good news about this film is that it’s being written by Dai Sato, known for his work on Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop, and being directed by Youichi Mouri, who has done previous Tekken opening animations in teh past. Even if you hate the Tekken series, you can’t deny that it’s known for it’s slick opening and ending CG animations and over the top storyline. The story takes place between Tekken 5 and 6 and tells the tale of Ling Xiaoyu and Anna Bosconovitch as they uncover secret and horrifying details about the Mishima Zaibatsu and the Mashima family. Look for it sometime in July.

Also in E3 Tekken news, Namco Bandai Games announce that Tekken Tag Tournament HD would be making it’s way onto a Nintendo console for the first time. At Nintendo’s Press Conference, early footage of signature Tekken battles could be seen as well a player using the WiiU controller to edit then face of Jin. Recent Tekken titles have put a heavy emphasis on customizing your characters, and possibly we could see a create a character option for the first time in Tekken, using the WiiU controller as your palette. Tekken Hybrid was also announced as an HD bundle pack for the Playstation 3.  Tekken is set for worldwide domination across all consoles! Do not fight it, embrace the Tekken.

Here are some HD Screenshots from Tekken Hybrid.
