This past weekend has been my birthday weekend (my actual birthday being the 24th) and I must say it definitely ranks among the best birthdays I have experienced.  Got a lot of great presents, and spent time with most of my family.  Also got a lot of meaningful messages from friends and family, and even a few of you guys sent me emails and pms on the forums.  Truly makes me feel wonderful.   Thanks again to all of you that wished me a happy birthday.  Was also nice to watch the Oscars on my birthday, and I hope that in a few years I might have a golden birthday present.

I must say that gaming is at very high point for me lately.  Lost Odyssey has absolutely taken me by storm lately.  Games like Final Fantasy VII, the Zelda series, Mega Man series, and my other favorites have all given me a certain indescribable feeling.  It is the same feeling that I get when I connect to any great work of art, be it film, music, or whatever.  To be honest, this is a feeling I have not felt with any games for quite some time.  I’ve enjoyed many games, but I haven’t had any games that I really just fell in love with.  Lost Odyssey has given me that feeling, and has been an absolute joy every time that I’ve played it.  I love everything about it.  The battle system, the art style, the music, and the characters.  I look forward to this game when I am not playing it, and I feel myself deeply analyzing it as I am playing it.  I wrote my final paper in college about Final Fantasy VII’s story and its deep religious symbolism, and I am enjoying exploring this game’s symbolism as well.  Very interesting to me how many little touches from various religions that Sakaguchi-san puts into his games.  FFVII got me into this sort of thing, and now Lost Odyssey gives me a kind of joy as I can pick up on these nods here and there.

Smash Bros. comes out very soon and I know I’m not the only one frothing at the mouth.  Many Nintendo fans surely have their pants soiled in anticipation for this celebration of everything  they hold dear.  Many of the things I love are being squashed into one game, and it makes me feel as though my hangs might not be able to handle the joy this game will bring.  That, and I love the classic controller that which puts nothing between me and happiness besides time.  Yeah, the fucking cruel mistress and all that cliched crap.  At any rate, I hope to throw fireballs at you and blow by you with Sonic speed in a very short amount of time.

I also have No More Heroes now which I am excited to play.  That’s what I’ll be doing post-post.   I’ll be sure to let you know what I think on Saturday.
