Looking around here one might wonder what is going on right now atBreakmanX.com. No shows going on, and Richie is the only oneposting.
First of all, where am I? After much consideration about myfuture and such and talking to various people I’ve decided to go toGraduate School at USC for film. (#1 Film Program in thecountry.) I’ve talked to several graduate students, professors, and other people out here and hope that I will be able to secure myself aspot. All I have to do is go back to KU and graduate, and thencome out here.
This summer I am taking the first class that one would take in graduateschool. George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Bryan Singer and manyother people took this same class. I absolutely love my class, and my professors are graduate professors that, from talking to othergrad students, are some of the best. I have to make a film everyweek, so I have had absolutely no time to do anything.
Every movie out has an alum from here in a high creativeposition. One of my professors, for example, had the director ofMr. and Mrs. Smith in several of his classes. The writer/directorof Old School has come to teach a bit with us. We get to watchCharilie and the Chocolate Factory with the Writer and Robert Zemeckis(directed Back to the Future, Forest Gump, Cast Away and others) iscoming to visit us on the 31st. It is just amazing to walk to theSteven Spielberg classroom and see posters from people connected tohere with their signatures on them. (http://breakmanx.textamerica.comhas pictures) I’ve also had classes in the George Lucas building, which you can imagine would excite me a little bit. It is justamazing to be right in the center of the entertainment industry. One of the profs came to class after having lunch with Lucas andSpielbeg, and my friend’s class goes to Universal everyday, and toursthe Pirates of the Carribbean set regularly. It is justamazing. Walking around with my student ID as an official studentas George Lucas and all the others really excites me.
Dr. Tom Holeman, the TH in THX, set up the sound for our orientation day. He’s a professor here.
Before class really started, my roomates and I went to the ChineseTheater in Hollywood (where most premieres are) to watch War of theWorlds. I absolutely loved it. I don’t think I can ever seea movie anywhere else again.
So, I’m having a wonderful time, but what does this mean forBreakmanX.com? I will return in August to do the show andeverything else. BreakmanX.com will always be my baby, and Iwon’t let it die. Expect more video projects, and much bettervideo projects. Making a film every week and having topprofessors analyze them has already made a big impact. Besidesthat we have class all day. When I come to graduate school wewill be more organized and still be able to keep things going.
I’ll try to post as often as possible here, but keep an eye out on (http://breakmanx.textamerica.com, http://homepage.mac.com/breakmanx/PhotoAlbum6.html and https://www.breakmanx.com/blog for more updates
