So I just got Neverwinter Nights, and I'm having a blast with it. Keep in mind, I did have it when it first came out, simply because of the hype surrounding it, and the fact that everyone was saying, "If you liked Diablo, you'll love this," sounded like a ringing endorsement in my ears. However, as soon as I started seeing the words "penalty", "dice roll", and "D & D", I almost immediately had a change of heart. I believe I put a full 30 minutes into actually playing the game until I got completely frustrated, and ended up taking it back to EB and switching it out for something else, probably No One Lives Forever (a great game, btw).
However, thanks to my recent experiences with Bioware, such as the glorious KOTOR, and the upcoming Jade Empire, I decided that I should give the game a fair shot again. So I took it home, installed it, and guess what? I actually really enjoy the game now. I can really tell where KOTOR came from now, and I think this game was really the foundation of some great stuff. But that's not quite what I think God is mocking me for…
I think he's mocking me by releasing so many games so close together in the next few weeks, while still keeping my tax return check from me so that I can purchase all of these great games. Tomorrow alone, Phantom Dust and MegaMan Anniversary Collection (finally) come out on the Xbox, and they're only $20 each to boot! Argh! I want both!
Not only that, but you've got the PSP next week with Lumines, and then the mother of them all the week after that, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory….*drools*
*shakes fist at the sky*
Ah well…guess I'll just have to keep working to make money the old-fashioned way…
…anyone need a kidney?
