Ps3 Silence again reported
I honestly don't see how you people can think some consoles are so loud! My ears are very sensitive and I tend to hear things louder than most people do (in fact, about 20 people in a room, all talking, is enough to give me a headache if I'm about 15ft away from them).
If the consoles are so loud to you guys, then I think it's a problem with the individual unit, rather than the system in general. Either that or you guys have touchier hearing than me (which I would find hard to believe).

It would probably overheat in such a "confined" space.Atticus wrote:Well, if it bothers you that much, just stick your 360 in the closet and let the wires through under the door. It should be quiter in another room.
And I greatly prefer quiet computer electronics. I went out of my way to get a super quiet case and PSU for my computer...

My main point was that the Ps3 seems tp be better built system in terms of quality. Many 360s have failed. My screen is actually starting to flicker when I play it. The optical out port is the worst designed of such a thing in the history of electronics. It falls out by itself all the time. (I have the high quality monster THX cable for it too so its not that.) The power brick is enormous. It runs hot. It sounds like a leaf blower. All these things add up to a system that was rushed and not optimized. Sony spent a lot of time on engineering the internals of the system to make it run quietly and efficiently.Jbrown wrote:They just want something to bitch aboutMericks wrote:I honestly don't see how you people can think some consoles are so loud! The games are all that matters, but if a system fails (and many have) because of how poorly it is built and there is another system that will play most of the same games but maybe with slightly better graphics.. then I will always go with the latter.
Microsoft's strategy of being first is paying off as the 360 is currently the popular/cool system, and the people that have one aren't going to be quick to buy something else. As I learned in Social Psychology, people also will justify something they have over a competing product simply because they own it. Microsoft has played this out well.
The 360s fan actually wakes up my fiance when I play it so I can't play it when she's asleep. All this stuff keeps adding up for me. If my 360 fails, I will not buy a new one. My Xbox failed last gen, and I had to buy a new one of those.
Exhibit A: Thousands of PS1's went down the tube due to poor manufacturing.
Exhibit B: Many people went through at least 1-2 PS2's because of poor manufacturing.
Exhibit C: Blu-Ray technology, as attempted with PS3, has already run into issues which leads to the shortage of systems which will plague Sony this holiday season. The reason...you guessed it, poor manufacturing.
Microsoft isn't the only faction fucking up on that front, let's not get all rose tinted all of a sudden.

no thanks, i prefer to use personal experience in my viewpoints. and a fuck up is a fuck up is a fuck up, save your op.Vamp wrote:The reason there is a shortage of blu-ray drives is not because of a manufacturing error. It is because they can't acquire enough blue laser diodes to make the amount they want to. Do some research before you present fiction as fact.

I quote thyself from an earlier thread: http://www.breakmanx.com/bmxcommunity/v ... 9757#19757BreakmanX wrote:My main point was that the Ps3 seems tp be better built system in terms of quality. I had a 360 fail, so did Atticus, and Verence had four brick. The engineering (or lack thereof) of the 360 is apparant to many.Myself wrote:We KNOW the 360's engineering isn't exactly brilliant: Look at the power supply for fuck's sake. And when it's on, it buzzes like a hornet's nest.
So can we all just take the whole '360 is junk' think as read, and move on?

So in other words you would rather tell a blatent lie, call it an "opinion" (and I can't even begin to express how wrong that word would be), and just blindly hate a company for no real reason. Congrats, you've reached Fanboy status. In fact, I think you've just fulfilled the very definition of a fanboy.jayt11 wrote:no thanks, i prefer to use personal experience in my viewpoints. and a fuck up is a fuck up is a fuck up, save your op.Vamp wrote:The reason there is a shortage of blu-ray drives is not because of a manufacturing error. Well, Matt, if your 360 was manufactured before January 1st, you can turn it into MS and get it back in about a week. Another guy presenting on Monday talked about that problem. He also said you can't blame MS for manufacturing problems either. He said the Wii will have them, the PS3 will have them...This guy was completely neutral in his opinion, so there's no way to say he's biased.
The only problem I've seen with 360s recently is that every now and then, 1 of the old 1s will screw up.

It might be, but it will have some issues. Don't give Sony too much credit. The PS2 had more issues than I can name on release. They might have had more time, but I still don't trust that they've found every single glitch.
Oh, and let's just put the 360 is loud thing to rest, like Richie said. It's not going to get any quieter, so let's put it this way, if you want to play Gears Of War, then deal with the fans. I play every night and have no complaints, I guess I just don't understand why people make it sound like Microsoft has ruined their share of the next-gen because of fan noise.
Move on.
