On Wednesday, all of us were blown away by the reversed Dead Island trailer.  One of the first emotionally stimulating game trailers in a while, let’s take a look into the video.

Did anyone notice the similarities to Lost, including the eye, the lighthouse, the skewed use of time, and of course the ISLAND?  Also, the simple piano and cellos may be a nod to Michael Giacchino’s music.  This openworld game looks like it will definitely take us on an emotional journey into the world of a family of 3 (possibly more or less).  With animations on par with Pixar and beyond, Deep Silver looks to be  giving us a very cinematic and character driven journey while we dive into the lives of the father, mother, and daughter.  The only information released so far is the fact that it’s an open world first person  zombie survival that takes place on an island.  Are we alone?  Are the zombies in the video our former companions throughout the story?  Will this open world also have an open ended story much like Heavy  Rain?  Only time will tell.  All I know is that every gamer on the planet has amazingly high hopes after watching this breathtaking trailer.  What are your thoughts?

Let’s hope for the best with this 2011 release for the 360, PS3, and PC.

  1. Straaaaaaaange dichotomy there. Intriguing, but I don’t see how any zombie game could be as dramatic as this. It would HAVE to be interactive fiction like Heavy Rain was. I think I’d play that, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t really get into zombie games.

  2. Heh. Kinda my thought. Everyone went ape-shit over it, and it is a GREAT trailer, but it doesn’t actually give any idea as to what the gameplay is going to be, and who knows how it’ll translate. I’d laugh my ass off if it turned out to be some shitty Resident Evil clone.

I hear that the reaction to the trailer has also prompted some Hollywood guys to option the game for a movie series.

And you know what that movie will be?…. Pretty much just like any other zombie movie.

Still, kudos to the guy that made this trailer. They better give you a bonus for all the green you just made this company.
